New Website Testing
As you may already know, Caissa's Web is currently undergoing a complete re-design. The most obvious change will be a new HTML5-based interface which does not require Java or any other special plugin. Other changes include an improved timing system and all-new live time controls. This new bulletin board is dedicated to discussion of the new site and new features. Please feel free to post any questions, comments, bug reports, etc. here.

We're now moving into a period of beta-testing for the new game-play features. We encourage all members to play some games on the test site and report any problems they encounter. All games on the test site are isolated and do not affect your rating or game history on the regular site in any way. Please note that for now all ratings on the test site are placeholders only and are not actually calculated from anything. That will change soon as more features get programmed in, but ratings on the test site will always remain separate from the regular site.

Apart from live game and corr game play, little else is currently enabled on the test site. More features will be filled in over time, but we wanted to get started with what is obviously the most important feature of all -- the ability to play games.

So please visit the test site and let us know what you think!

I can connect to the Site, but can't find a way to do anything once I get there.

Re: New Website Testing
Unfortunately not many people are taking advantage of the beta right now, so at this point it will be difficult to play a game against another person. You can however play games against Caissa to see how things will work. From the Live Games screen (which is the first screen you see and can always return to by clicking on the Live Games button on the far left or the icon at the top that looks like a hand moving a piece) just click on the "Challenge Players" button at the top right. Choose "Caissa" from the Computer Opponents list, fill in the other options as desired, and click "Challenge".

Also be sure to check out the board configuration options by selecting "Board Settings" under the settings menu (the icon at the top that looks like a gear).

Coming very soon you will also be able to choose your avatar and country, games will be saved for replay, and ratings will be implemented.

Re: New Website Testing
When it goes live, will all our games, etc. from the current site carry forward? Or is the new site going to be a clean sheet, like when the current one was introduced?

Re: New Website Testing
Most stuff from the current site will carry over, including saved games, ratings, stats, and messages.

Everything on the new site will be erased at some point and replaced with the corresponding information from the current site. So any ratings, stats, games, history etc. you obtain on the new site won't actually "count" in the long run.

Beta Site Guest Access
We have received several messages from guest members who were not able to access the test site. This was originally by design, as we wanted our subscribed members to have the first chance to evaluate the new interface. However since the test site has now been active for a while, we've decided to open it up to current guests as well. So if you have previously tried and couldn't log on, please give it another try.

Note that test site accounts are not dynamically linked to the regular site -- in other words, creating a new account on the regular site will not create the same account on the test site. The databases must be manually synced, which we will do occasionally. If you create a new account from today forward, you may still not have immediate access to the test site.

Re: New Website Testing
This site doesn't offer anything new. It will be my last year unless something happens before july. Today only 87 games were completed.

Re: New Website Testing
Before testing a new site, you should make sure you get rid of the bugs on the old site.
