Re: Official Thread: Evans Gambit MOT
As a curiosity, the variant played by Wizard it was played for first time by Anderssen against Kieseritzky in 1851 (1-0). Gladiator took the same pawn that Kieseritzky (exf4). I tried with the other pawn (exd4).

Re: Official Thread: Evans Gambit MOT
Anderssen and Kiesiritzky played 3 games in London in 1851 in which the Evans was the opening. Kiesiritzky split two games where he played exf4 and won the one where he played exd4. However, he should have lost the exd4 game as Anderssen blundered badly on the 22nd move and missed what is surely a forced mate. (Chessgames.com)

Re: Official Thread: Evans Gambit MOT
Well my game with Wizard was won in 31 moves so maybe 8...ed is better. But it's always good to see romantic games like these ones back in 1851.

Re: Official Thread: Evans Gambit MOT
Three games is too small a data base to draw any conclusions from, but the game where the three pawns crush the bishop was interesting.

In this game Gladiator put into practice the Boa Constrictor methode. I didn`t see 13... b5! and it was fatal.

This was a good game but my toughest ones are still to come. Not easy to find counterplay with white against Wiz and you.

working off-site this week not a lot of free time. I'll make moves, but won't update the cross tables until Friday, probably.
