Except I'll be picked last and it will be little league all over. But having the captains set their order like the rider cup could be interesting. Maybe I could use my "call a friend option next time". Kingsfull |

The Leap Frog mess has needed improving for years, I just never got around to doing anything about it until now. You got to remember that Leap Frog started out as a chat room game that was played live. I've been trying to find a way to successfully transfer the game over to the BB format for years. There have been some successful games played but for the most part there were always one problem or another. I was going to wait until the next game but then some players showed an interest in using the changes now, and I didn't think it would hurt to at least try it out if possible. pazuzu |

Rxd2 {WizardNo1 is up for black: Resigns} 1-0 (edit) On move 23 you'll notice that I played Qe7. That was actually a long hard thought out move. This was where I tried playing for the lower rated players on my team. I was in chat with Louisfriend and ChessT and we were discussing this move for what seemed like hours and probably was. I decided that exchanging queens would make black's position a lot easier for the lower rated players to understand while still leaving the white side a bit more complex and harder for the lower rated players on the white team. My plan was working at first and black was starting to make a bit of a comeback, but in the end it seems I over-estimated the players on my team... pazuzu Edited on 16 Aug 2008 at 05:04:49 |

Reply | 16 Aug 2008, 18:06:13   Re: Leap Frog Game Since there isn't a whole lot of support for the new rules, and there being a sense of apprehension about them, I have decided to let this game die a natural death. I will give everybody the rest of the weekend off and start it up again on Monday. After this game I'll be waiting a while to start another. Hopefully I'll be able to find a way to get these games to work. As always, I'm open to suggestions. pazuzu Edited on 16 Aug 2008 at 18:16:39 |

Reply | 24 Aug 2008, 06:50:37   Re: Leap Frog Game After this game is over I'm planning on putting another game together. This one will not be a traditional leap frog game, but one based on an idea by SouthernComfort. It will play like leap frog except for the following changes: 1. If a player misses a turn his team loses a piece. The piece that gets lost will be the lowest value piece that team has on the board. 2. If a team can make it through 10 moves without anybody missing a turn then their team will get a piece added to the board. The lowest value piece rule will apply here also with one exception. Neither team will get a piece added that will give the team a total that is more than what they started with at the beginning of the game, for example, a team can not have a pawn added if they have 8 pawns on the board after ten moves. If a team has all 8 pawns they will get a knight added. If they have both knights they will get a bishop added. If they have both bishops they will get a rook added. If they have both rooks they will get a queen added. If they have a queen then they get nothing added. 3. I will need to use a FEN string for this game and since it'll be a lot easier for me to generate the string with my computer chess program I will not be playing as to not have any accusations of cheating. I will also use the program to make sure the piece I'm adding or taking away does not give a team a bigger advantage than the piece deserves. 4. While the move list generated on the board will be accurate it won't work perfectly. You won't be able to move through the list move by move and the list will not automatically show the last move, you'll have to manually scroll down the list to see the moves. Since this will be a guinea pig type game, I'd like to keep it small, maybe 6 players or so. The only exception I'll make is if all the leap frog players in this game want to play in the new game. So for now I put this out for the leap frog players, if I don't get enough then I'll officially make a post advertising the game to get players. pazuzu |
