Re: French Winawer Poisoned Pawn Tables
Congratulations, Wiz!

Those top three players were dead solid ... I don't think I've ever seen so many draws in a tournament. 6½, 6, and 5½ ... what a heat!

Spud and I finish last, tied at 1 apiece (wins to each other). I'm defaulting one game to Spud because I screwed up the moves twice in the games where he challenged me as white, and I figure that deserves the win. I was going to post a rule about "if you screw up the moves too often, you lose" and ... well, I became the poster child for that. So there it is.

Well played, all.

Sad to have such a small turn out, and I felt like I was getting clobbered over the head consistently ... of course, I think I hung my queen out there in at least three of the games, but that's chess life ...

I'm still around until my membership expires, so if someone starts another tourney, I'll jump in.

Otherwise, after this, you can find me at GameKnot, playing chess under my old moniker, godling. Spud and I occasionally spar over there, and there are literally hundreds of live players all the time. You know ... like Caissa used to be ...

Best to all, and thanks for a great tourney.

Thanks for running this Jon. Like you I'm on my last membership here.....I've had a good time but the party is nearly over. Gameknot seems to be where it's all happening nowadays
Cheers

Re: French Winawer Poisoned Pawn Tables
This is the game which won the tournament.

At the end, it would appear that White still has some play, but that is deceptive, as White is totally lost.

Thanks for the tourney, Grim! What a tragedy that such a great Site has sunk so low.

I have been asking others (online) to join this site. No guarantees.

I can't help but wonder if this will be the last Event, other than the Caissa-Organized correspondence tournaments, ever held on this Site.

Yeah; What's 'exploring' knowledge-in-general; And being {mostly hypothetically} able, for any 'Caissa' member, to comment on; Compared to, bemoaning the apparent, near-extinction of a slower form-of-chess; As pertains, for-that-matter; To a specific, obscure .. and arguably declining, Web site!? --

- I know most of us, have long ago heard it; But it bears More, than a passing reflection on! -Ie. Our visible universe {see below}, has more 'stars' {like our 'Sun'}; Than there are 'grains-of-sand' on All of our {planet} earth's seashores.

.. And while one cannot know, at what 'stage' our universe is, in evolving; It's Really a 'moot' point; If, one factors-in, 'Eternalness' as a given! -- We All have our 'starting points' of 'coming-to-terms' {as it were}; Of 'Life' as we know it.

For myself; Knowing that we're ALL going through, what amounts to 'The-School-of-Life'; Goes a long ways, in explaining, why we're {all} here - and {if inferred}; What we're to do with 'it'!? {meaning ourselves}.

.. And by {a select few of us}, publicly wondering, what will become of 'such-and-such'/ very minor aspect of 'Life' {which we're all free-to-wonder 'btw'- about anything}; Only indicates to those in the 'higher'-reality, awareness vibrations, {if you will}; That those aforementioned; Are coping {excuse}.. By looking for some metaphorical 'lollipop' to 'suck-on'/ distract themselves with; Whilst, the eon-long battle of 'Good-and-Evil' as it bears upon ourselves; Enters a noticeably more active stage! --

For me, it would be appropriate, as the French-Winawer Poisoned Pawn was the first book I ever read on chess. Also, as most participants here can attest, I never went back to it ... ;)

Should this site ever begin to rise again (against all evidence to the contrary), I would absolutely return. I'll be playing corr games / tourneys until my membership lapses.
