Reply | 1 Dec 2007, 10:54:46   Corres tournament Here is my suggestion for the first Member Organized Tournament on the new Caissa website. Sicilian Najdorf , Polugavsky variation. 1 e4 c5 2 Nf3 d6 3 d4 cd4 4 Nd4 Nf6 5 Nc3 a6 6 Bg5 e6 7 f4 b5 . One of the most complicated variations of the Sicilian. |

Reply | 10 Dec 2007, 07:32:30   Re: Corres tournament .. Although I haven't played correspondence chess for the past ten years..{thanks, in large part to computer data-bases, and the frequent lack-of-honor among All competitors}.. I person- ally can't understand the fascination among the relatively few adherents, Re. 'Thematic-opening' correspondence tourneys{?!} ..When you give a moderately chess-savvy player the prescribed first 5 or more opening moves that are Required to be played, that most definitely reduces Both players options to display their skill,{compared to how games normally procede}.. as if the drawing-chances in regular chess are not discouraging enough{!?} .. and helps insure that the eventual winner will be the one who is the more patient with the increased 'drawing-chances' 'bs'.. {I mean, prospects}. ..Not to point out the obvious here, but personally.. I would rather devote my attentions to games such as "GO," 'Chess-960' and others, where the 'solved portions' of known theory, are Not so ridiculously high! { : |

Reply | 12 Dec 2007, 03:50:08   Re: Corres tournament Sorry, I forgot, but I would not mind to play it again. I had a few tournaments in which I played a few games in KID 4 pawns and was indeed a success. Ok. Maybe we did not play Noteboom: 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 c6 4.Nf3 dxc but if we did - what about Anti-Noteboom: Marshall Gambit: 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 c6 4.e4. Another suggestion Caro-Kann advanced variation with Na6. 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.e5 Na6. |

I would like Wiz to join us but for technical reasons it seems he can only log in on the normal site. I know all of you very well we used to play games on the old site. What I suggest is to play the 2 mini tourneys on the old site with Wiz if I can't reach the new site. He is a great player and a great person to talk to. |

Reply | 19 Dec 2007, 09:48:03   Re: Corres tournament This is today the beginning of those 2 MOT. Each player needs to play 2 games against each other in 2 separate tournaments. I wish to state that the time limit will be a typical one for corres games, you don't have to change it.to challenge someone, go to "corr games" one of the tabs of the main screen. Select "challenges". Select "show advanced options". You can issue a challenge by typing the name of your opponent. The speed remains the same.Challenge your opponent twice with both colors. On the "comment" tab,you can state the opening . I remind you the 2 openings we are going to play. Sicilian Najdorf , Polugavsky variation. 1 e4 c5 2 Nf3 d6 3 d4 cd4 4 Nd4 Nf6 5 Nc3 a6 6 Bg5 e6 7 f4 b5 Anti-Noteboom: Marshall Gambit: 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 c6 4.e4 This is the list of all the players involved in that event. Gladiator 2653 Wizardno1 2328 Yaman 2325 Bgh 2136 Hawkeye 2021 Procyk 1848 LarryN 1680 TrencherKnight 1526 DualSpace 1451 TheShaman 1374 I will challenge all the players right away for my own games. Good luck in your games! |
