Don't blame me, that is the way Caissa interprets the "&" when I import the Fen string.

Re: Leap Frog: Lost & Found
any chance of showing some mercy to elrey. Like, giving white a pawn instead of a knight, and giving black nothing. I seem to recall that elrey was on line on the day, but was probably busy with the current MOT and just forgot to move in leap frog.

Re: Leap Frog: Lost & Found
I tell you what, and this is the only time I'm going to offer this for black, if ElRey can convince me he had a good excuse for missing his move I will give black their bishop but still take away their pawn on h7.

If need be I will make white a similar offer in the future.

This offer is only valid as long as nobody complains about it.

Re: Leap Frog: Lost & Found
I have no real problem. it is for fun,,, right?

has he contacted you?

if he is not around at the moment, it may be a moot point.
-------------------------------

BTW, paz,,, there is no pawn at H7 in the diagram.

I will hold off my move until this is resolved.

I am not asking for extra time, I'll move by Friday night.

I just hope it will be settled by then.

Fun? You didn't hear that the winning team gets $100,000? Wait a minute, let me check my Monopoly game... yep, $100,000.

I haven't heard from him but I'm sure he'll be back.

Re: Leap Frog: Lost & Found
I talked to ElRey and he convinced me he had a good excuse for missing his move. He and his daughter were sick.

After Snoopy makes his move I'll add the bishop to g8 for the black team.

Re: Leap Frog: Lost & Found
LOL well no good deed deserves to go unpunished. My last couple of moves were born of a totally lost game and desperation. If no one minds I'll resign this game and we can start another? (0-0-0 and g5 are sick moves)

Re: Leap Frog: Lost & Found
You can resign if you wish and if everyone wants to start over it's fine by me.

Even if Snoopy plays what my computer thinks is the best move, after adding the bishop it shows white with a 1.89 score at depth 14.

Re: Leap Frog: Lost & Found
After thinking about it, starting over wouldn't be so bad. At least the next time around everybody should have some understanding of how the game works.

Re: Leap Frog: Lost & Found
I think the rules need a little change to try to keep the game going longer. I don't think it is a good idea to punish a team by giving the other team a major piece; that just leads to a resignation. So here is a suggestion, which might solve the problem. In the recent case where black missed a move, I propose that no changes be made to the board. However , if the black team, later in the game, should win a piece [not an exchange of pieces], then the white piece is returned to the white side. At a square to be determined by Pazuzu. If at any time during the game, both teams fall foul of the same rule, the slate can be wiped clean for both sides.

Re: Leap Frog: Lost & Found
yaman, you can resign if you wish, but this is not normal chess LOL!

Oh, and your o-o-o was not so advisable (IMO) but g5 worried me a bit.

pazu, I was either going to play Qa5, or bxc6, bxc6 bh6+,, probably the Qa5 is better

Now, here is my question, black got "punished" and had a pawn removed at h7. is that really punishment? look at the attack black has for the cost of a pawn. - maybe not life threatning BUT.... it's an improvement.
the rook on h8 is quite viable now. Maybe that is a "tactic" to utilize????

Also, white has a "useless" knight on b2, which clogs things up for white to get an attack going with the rook on blacks' king. again, maybe a tactic to think about - avoid this situation.

I don't know, I have to see more of this type of game before I draw a judgement. It certainly is more complex than what I thought.

anyway, Yaman, I'll let you and your mates and/or pazu decide. If we do a do-over, same teams, I guess, let's go.

EDIT: Oh, and Pazu,,, do you have these rules written down anywhere? you could put them in the kabitzing thread in the misc BB if you do.

Black wasn't getting punished by giving white it's knight. White earned the knight by making 10 moves in a row. Black was in line to receive a bishop until they missed their move.

It was one of those freak situations where black missed their move at the worst possible time in the game to miss a move. If one or more pawns had been off the board then we wouldn't even be having this discussion now.

I'm not suggesting that pawns should be exchanged but if they aren't then both teams need to make sure they get the first 10 moves in.
