Albin Counter Gambit Cross tables
Okay, folks, let the game begin! (It's a little late, but we had 3 last-minute additions, and I'm okay with that.)

In order of rank, the following players are being randomized, sort of ...

Bartvinnik 2207
Zugzwanger 2177
Azathoth 2144
Power 2002
Blue 1865
Grim 1790
TrencherKnight 1696
Kingsfull 1632
Spud 1513

I'm splitting the top 4 players into two groups, randomly, and then assigning random players from there into the two groups. This way everyone gets to play opponents of different levels.

As one group will be a player shorter than the other, if we have another last-minute addition, I'll roll that person in.

The cross tables are as follows:

Table 1
1 2 3 4 5
Bartvinnik x/x ½/½ 1/1 1/1 1/1 7
Power ½/½ x/x 1/1 1/0 1/1 6
Grim 0/0 0/0 x/x 1/1 1/1 4
Kingsfull 0/0 1/0 0/0 x/x 0/1 2
Spud 0/0 0/0 0/0 0/1 x/x 1

Table 2
1 2 3 4
Zugzwanger x/x 1/1 1/1 1/1 6
Blue 0/0 x/x 0/1 1/? 2
Grim 0/0 0/1 x/x 0/1 2
TrencherKnight 0/0 ?/0 0/1 x/x 0

Send your challenges (as white) and let the games begin!

Re: Albin Counter Gambit Cross tables
When you speak of, "short" just what do you mean
As to this game from the Albin scene
Was it short as to days which did elapse
Or short as to moves in your mishap?

You couldn't have fallen for the old Fools Mate
The Albin requirements negate that fate
Was it so historic we should give it a name
And have, "Grim's Mate" bring you lasting fame?

Or maybe better is, "The Mate Of Grim"
So please choose a name for this Albin gem
And if you lose more like this, I have a plan
Which could make you Caissa's most famous man!

You should take all the scoresheets and make a collection
Then publish it all to show losing perfection!
And the title, of course, since it shows how one fails
Must be rather catchy as, "Grim's Scary Tales"!

My games with Blue and TrencherKnight are underway, but my challenge to Azathoth has not yet been accepted and he has not challenged me.

Re: Albin Counter Gambit Cross tables
I'll send him a message, see if he's okay. It's a small tourney, so I hate to cut a player, particularly since your table is only 4 players.

that being said, if any of the players in the other table want to challenge me for this tourney, I'll take more games. :)

What I suggest in the matter of Azatloft is that he be removed from the Tournament. It won't involve any forfeits as none of his games ever got underway. Then move Grim from Table 1 to Table 2. Grim will complete all his Table 1 games, but they won't count as Tournament games. Then have Grim start play in Table 2 with challenges to his three opponents there, and instruct those three players to issue challenges to him (Grim). I am the main one who would have any reason to object to this, as I have have won both games from Grim, and I have no objections.

Power, also, is destroying me. You just did it faster. :)

However, if there are no objections by Wednesday, I'll switch over. Actually, I'll just put myself in both brackets.

Who is this funny TD, Grim
Who changes things with every whim?
Who sings to Trencher, Zug, and Blue
Folks: "I Turned The Tables On You!"

(It was too good to resist)

I was getting slowly picked apart and then just blundered. I hope not to have any big blunders in our other game. I am being methodically crushed already though...
