Reply | 7 Dec 2010, 06:13:56   Live Tournaments? I was wondering if there any interest in forming a live tournament sometime soon? I figure it could be a 30/30 tournament and a G/5 tournament so we have a classical time control and a blitz one. Having 3 classes, say a Master class (2000)+, an Intermediate one(1999-1600) and Novice class(1599-1). I think it would be a great way to spend an evening that can compose of both playing and watching the tournament. I have been a part of this site for quite a long time and it is missing something these days. I never see any players chatting over the games and analyzing them, discussing what moves work and what ones dont. I think it would be a great experience for the stronger players to sharpen their games and for mid-level and novice type players the knowledge gained by such an experience could be invaluable. Anyone that would like to form such an event and Administer it?

Well, we do have a G/2 going on right now, with a G/5 planned in the future, but these are all spread out over periods of time, rather than "happening tonight" kinds of things. I say, if you want to organize it, I'll play in it. :) |

I would like to get 5-10 players for each class depending on interest. I will give it to 1-10-2011 to register. If we dont get 5 for each class or close to it I'd say there is no interest and we have a falure :( I hope we get some more interest. The tournament will be on your terms as to when you will play your matched opponent. You will correspond with your opponent and determine a game time to fit your schedule within 14 days of the pairing. You will message me with the agreed upon game time. I will post the game time/date so the tournament players or any Caissa member can observe the match if they wish. Please base your game time upon UTC time. You can convert your local time to UTC by highlighting the Date/time on the upper righthand side of the Caissa applet. Master Class (2000+) 1. Gladiator (2331) 2. BrandonE (2756) 3. 4. 5. Intermediate (1600-1999) 1. EELDROP (1646) 2. 3. 4. 5. Novice (0-1599) 1. Grim (1415) 2. 3. 4. 5. Edited on 10 Dec 2010 at 12:17:30 |
