It is time to begin the organization of Nova 2011!. Nova is the longest-running tournament on Casissa, and honors nova (he spelled itwith a lower case, "n"), one of the finest gentlemen ever to grace this Site. Caissa continues to maintain nova's Page on the Caissaclassic Site.
 
Since it's inception, Nova has been a Live Team Tournament, but, since it is so difficult to attract entries in Live events on Caissa these days I am going to change it, as an experiment, to a Correspondence Event this year. Nova 2010 was won by the Power Outage Team, a Team consisting of power, BladeRunner, SouthernComfort, and lgrupido We had 20 entries and formed 5 teams. The same method of putting the teams together will be used that was utilized last year, as it resulted in five extremely equal teams. Four of the five teams were still in the
running to win the event all the way into the final round.
 
In Nova, players play only opponents within their own general rating
area, and, unlike most other correspondence events here, there are no
matchups between Grandmasters and Class E entrants! In signing up for
Nova 2011, a member is only signing up for around 5 or 6 games, even
if your team makes the Finals!
 
Nova will begin shortly after January 3, 2011, and entries will be accepted until that date. The format of the event will be based on the number of entries. Last season we had 20 entries and thus formed 5 teams. These teams played a Round-Robin, so entrants had just 4 games
each. For Nova 2011, I am hoping for many more entries now that it is
a Correspondence event! For more information about Nova, read some of

It would be great to get back to the level we had a few years ago, when we had 72 entries in Nova and had three sections of six four-player teams each!
 
I am accepting entries starting immediately, and registraton will be
open all during the month of December. So, sign up now! Just add your

WE got off to a great start with this Event with 12 quick entries, but
we have come to a standstill. Please talk this Event up with all your
chess friends. I thought it was reasonable to anticipate 40 entries
and thus 10 Teams (two divisions of 5 Teams each), but now I am just
hoping for 24 entries and one 6-Team Division.

Just assume I'm in every MOT ... :)
