This is my favourite opening with white when playing 1 c4 or 1 d4.
 
The game moves will be 1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 e6 3 g3 d5 4 Bg2 Be7 5 Nf3 0-0
6 0-0 dc4
 
I expect players like Yaman or Jaume1959 to join the tourney quickly because it suits their playing style perfectly.
 
There will be only 1 crosstable even if 50 players register.It will start the 1st of january 2011.

The Closed Catalan is close enough to the Caro for me. I'm in.
But please give some thought to sections. 20 games is a ball-buster of a game load. Perhaps a Swiss? That is always fun for those who have never played one.

I don't understand how a swiss would work in correspondence? If it was like an OTB event a 5 round swiss could take a year or so to play.Perhaps in correspondence the term "swiss" means something all together different.Could you please explain what a swiss correspondence event means?

Sounds like fun, count me in. If I remember correctly this was one of Anand's favorites, and was quite sucessful with it.

So far, we have 10 players so I hope to have 3 or 4 more to get started next month.

time would have to be limited. instead of 20/30, we could try 10/15 and then 10/10 after that. 20/30 is glacial.

People on this site are used to this format, so we will stick to it. But if you want to organise a MOT with a different time control, I would be happy to join.

Check my post in this section on a live tournament. I know alot of folks enjoy the game but I realize alot of these games take a month or more to play sometimes. For a live tournament I would take suggestions on a a particular opening or position or just whatever the players choose. It would be a format where I would make a cross-table for each class and the two players matched for play would correspond with eachother to determine what date and time would be best for them to meet and play. I shall post the game time and date giving members time to come watch the game, disuss the moves and the like. I think this would be beneficial to both the players and just for an overall good time. I was thinking a 30/30 time period for the tourney. Im also open to 30/60 or 30/15 but no blitz as there is already a G/2 tournament forming.
