Re: Official Poisoned Pawn variation, SD, MOT Kabitzing Thread
one last thing-lets keep the number of games limited.Playing opponents who because of 2 many games blunder pieces 1 or 2 moves out of the opening is inane.Lets try and get a serious tourney going.

Re: Official Poisoned Pawn variation, SD, MOT Kabitzing Thread
Yaman, I think anyone who plays the next MOT and who participated in this last one will be well versed in the pains of making hasty decisions. At least, I hope so.

But I still think Glad (or whoever) should be thinking in terms of two sections (open, under 1700) or maybe just playing each opponent once, depending on the # of entrants.

Personally, I think this current MOT showed we can get 15-20 players in any given corr MOT so, probably two sections would be my feelings towards it.

BTW, just to add one more opinion on which opening, without specifying a particular variant, something in the Dutch might be nice. It was once a serious opening for grandmasters but is outdated now, so it is so off beat for today's players that it would be a welcome change for most.

What's that, wanna....?
No, not the Orangutang!!

All this talk about the Marshall has got me in the mood to play a corr. Marshall game. I know a lot of you have a ton of corr. games going on already, but I only have about 10 or so going on at the moment. If anyone is up for it, let's test our Marshall skills!

NM:

I have no idea of Dutch or marshall but i will look for it in the net and I can learn playing with you if you like.

It wasn´t very easy to find but..is this the one?
Ruy Lopez, Marshall (1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bb5 a6 4 Ba4 Nf6 5 OO Be7 6 Re1 b5 7 Bb3 OO 8 c3 d5)

Yaman:

Since I am one of those blunderers* I will suggest if you guys organize another tourney make a category 1900 or 2000+ and other 2 categories: 1600-1900 and 1599-rest.(aprox.300 points differential).

About the opening...how about 2 or 3 choices and a quick survey?

Re: Official Poisoned Pawn variation, SD, MOT Kabitzing Thread
I know it can be a lot of games to play but I will not divide the MOT in 2 sections. I am eager to play anyone on this site regardless of the rating.

And anyone has the right to play me or any other strong player as well. It's one of the only ways for players of different strenght to play together, the other way being the right to play O corres tourneys.

I see people panicking all the time on this site because they think they don't have time. What they need to do is to prioritize their games.
For instance, I am currently playing about 35 games at the same time but thanks to the configuration I know there is no way I can lose any of it on time. The reason I won so many games in the B97 MOT is because my opponents were playing too fast.

I am thinking to set up a date for the registration of the next Spanish MOT. Probably around the 15th of december. Anyone interested?

Re: Official Poisoned Pawn variation, SD, MOT Kabitzing Thread
Yeah Wanna, that's it. The main line is much longer though. I don't have a board in front of me, so I'll go by memory. I think it's 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. 0-0 Be7 6. Re1 b5 7. Bb3 0-0 8. c3 d5 9. eXd5 Nxd5 10. Nxe5 Nxe5 11. Rxe5 c6 12.d4 Bd6 13. Re1 Qh4 14. g3 Qh3. After this the line I always play is 15.a4 Bg4 16. Qd3. I think black usually plays 16... Bf3 here, followed by 17. Qf1 Qh5

Re: Official Poisoned Pawn variation, SD, MOT Kabitzing Thread
NM.I will take a look of this...great material to consider. In this last tourney we made what?...like 9 or 10 moves before start looking for white smoke??

...the fact that an opening is so well examined makes me think the ideal one should be an "obscure" and crazy one which have a proposal of 5 or six basic moves , any idea?

GLADIATOR: great attitude, thx for sharing your game with us,"profane" players ...about this corr tourney I felt like in bowling , golf or karaoke, the ones who have the most fun are the higher handicapers! COUNT ME IN

Re: Official Poisoned Pawn variation, SD, MOT Kabitzing Thread
The Arch Angel is not seen very often. I've only seen a couple of games with it. There is a Russsian or maybe Ukranian Grandmaster who used to play it. I think his name is Alexander Believski, or something like that.
