Assuming, you're making use of ironic humor {pennine}; I'll take that as a somewhat humorous compliment, on your part! - Otherwise, I haven't the 'foggiest' notion, where you're 'coming from,' {as it were}. |

Were you trying to imply that I contextually misused, 'tampon'? Were you unaware of that word, perhaps; Or even its meaning?! From, the "freedictionary{dot}com": tam·pon; noun A plug of absorbent material inserted into a body cavity or wound to check a flow of blood or to absorb secretions, especially one designed for insertion into the vagina during menstruation. tr.v. tam·poned, tam·pon·ing, tam·pons To plug or stop with a tampon. {French, from Old French; see tampion}. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm just speculating; But perhaps it's my decision to use a period, after 'tampon'; That you both found 'off-putting'!?; Thus ending, the admittedly abbreviated, 'story.' -- If someone wants to take the liberty to change my story ending 'period,' into a "semicolon"; Be my guest! |

Asperger syndrome From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Asperger syndrome Classification and external resources Asperger syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder, and people with it therefore show significant difficulties in social interaction, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development. Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness and atypical use of language are frequently reported. [my emphasis in bold] Asperger syndrome is named for the Austrian pediatrician Hans Asperger who, in 1944, described children in his practice who lacked nonverbal communication skills, demonstrated limited empathy with their peers, and were physically clumsy.[3] Fifty years later, it was standardized as a diagnosis, but many questions remain about aspects of the disorder.[4] For example, there is doubt about whether it is distinct from high-functioning autism (HFA);[5] partly because of this, its prevalence is not firmly established.[1] The diagnosis of Asperger's has been proposed to be eliminated, replaced by a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder on a severity scale.[6] The exact cause is unknown, although research supports the likelihood of a genetic basis; brain imaging techniques have not identified a clear common pathology.[1] There is no single treatment, and the effectiveness of particular interventions is supported by only limited data.[1] Intervention is aimed at improving symptoms and function. The mainstay of management is behavioral therapy, focusing on specific deficits to address poor communication skills, obsessive or repetitive routines, and physical clumsiness.[7] Most individuals improve over time, but difficulties with communication, social adjustment and independent living continue into adulthood.[4] Some researchers and people with Asperger's have advocated a shift in attitudes toward the view that it is a difference, rather than a disability that must be treated or cured |

I'll be praying for you "Spud" {even if you'd prefer I not}; Since it's obvious to me that even assuming I Do have the 'syndrome' that you mentioned; It's also true, that you have a son with an 'autistic disability'..{remember?; You once volunteered that, in a 'Caissa' private emailing, to my then 'handle'}. That your son's condition, is obviously weighing on your mind; And you're not so subtley, trying to 'tar' me with condition; Only tells me, that you have yet to come to terms, with your son's disability! All things considered; I have reason to believe, that your 'autistic' {by your own previous admission}, son; Has more character than yourself. Simply because, if he were to, in-effect, judge people, as being implied, in your last post; To be pitied, for being 'different'; At least in His case {my emphasis}; It could be 'lumped-in' with his disability. Which incidentally; Contrary, to your own likely 'pov'; People with such conditions, should Not be a source of your own consternation; Even if they're 'family'!! |

The fact that you're in denial about it doesn't change the facts... It's neither my intention {Spud}, to attempt to 'win' a spontaneous debate with you; Nor to further probe your own {'reading between the lines'}, misgivings and consternation, Re. your son's disabilities. But, to recapitulate, what I'd previously typed. Even assuming, that I Do have the condition that you not so subtley tried to 'tar' me with..{and how 'pray tell' does that make myself, 'in denial'?!}; Objectively speaking; There are many worse disabilities, than 'Asbergers' {or even "autism"}, that can handicap people! But since it's Not my job to educate you, as to how that can be!? Suffice it to say, that your own, rather visible intolerance; Re. how I supposedly 'ruined' your 'story' line; And then attempting to rationalize your basis of belief, by introducing, {actually re-introducing, over the many months}, a whole other, supposed factor. Without addressing, how my usage of 'tampon' was supposedly in error, to your mind; Merely shows any objective reader, that your own intolerance {when a 'story' line ends sooner than you probably wanted it to}; Is further handicapped, by your own demonstrated inability, to address the supposed primary-rules-infraction {that I somehow violated, relating to this post's title}, with a 'prima-facie'{sp?}, relevent reference!! I rest my case; Bye-bye, Spud. I'll give U the last word; Even if you want to continue to fault/and-or attack me; As your virtual 'Life's uncertainties' buffer. |

I've reviewed the earlier Threads on this topic and it's clear to me that you now appear to have accepted your condition. Congratulations, and I apologise for suggesting that you were still in denial. Note that I call it a condition, not a disability, which is where I stand on this issue, based on a bit more experience than the average man on the street. I know many people with ASD, and either like them or not for reasons that have nothing to do with their condition. Although I know you won't understand it, my posting of the Wiki article was more about doing you a favour than getting under your skin. There are many on the site who won't be aware of your condition and knowing that you have Aspergers might help them understand your behaviour. I've posted about the effect on me of my son's condition here before but if anyone wants to Goggle "Once a Mighty Ship" by Rodney Rowen, it'll give them a good idea.
