Stronger Vs Weaker Players
I dont really gloat if I win a game vs a weaker player. In fact I am usually impressed with a weaker players IDEAS, and think, WOW, how come no one has thought of that before! Anyway, I may need some advice, every now and then, because there is a shortage of players, I will pick on a player and beat them into the ground unmercifully. Every once in a while, they will give me a reality check, and say please pick on someone of your own strength. I will come back and say, Ok, sorry and stop playing that person. What I am wondering is Am I making a mistake beating a player over and over even if they dont voice dissapproval? Like bad manners or something? Or just assume, if they voice no protest, everything is fine.

Re: Stronger Vs Weaker Players
There's nothing morally wrong; Aside from likely doing damage to your own game! - I once struck up a casual conversation, many years ago, @ the "World Open"; And the other man, {playing in a higher-rated section, and older than I}; Mentioned, in passing: "If you want to become a better player; Then you need to play those, better {@ chess}, than yourself"!

I've also become aware, of an inverse effect; Ie. Weak opponents, tend to make weak moves {D-U-H?!}, And it encourages, laziness, in my own analysis. Whereupon, on consecutive moves; I'll be known to play something other, than the sharpest refutation; Even to the point of unwittingly, letting them 'off-the-hook'!

It's quite possible, that playing Too much '2-minute'-timed chess, will have the same effect, of superficial analysis. That's encouraged, and made necessary, by the ticking limited no. of seconds!

I have an unproven theory; That if you were to match a predominant, 2 minute chess game player; With another player, of the same rating-range, who plays mostly 5 minute chess; And assuming, they're of equal ability.. and both, were to play a 'compromise' game time-limit, of 3 and-a-half, minutes; I suspect that the former, 5 minute player, would come out ahead; Most of the time!
.. Simply because; Not feeling as habit-constrained, from deeper-analysis, due to their accustomed.. More seconds, to think; This should be, to the normally, 5 minute player's, advantage! --
