The Happiest I've Ever Seen, "A. Karpov"!?
Going back a number of years; 'Karpov,' aside from his status as either World 'Champ' {or contending for same}; Also seemed to have a then, seemingly permament, dour or serious expression, {at least whenever his pic was taken!?}.

Which for most of the people, in the 'West' who followed chess; Probably added to the mystery, of many of these talented, top-tier, {then 'Eastern Bloc'}, grandmasters; In terms of, what were they like, as ordinary humans; Outside of the confines of chess?!

In any event; Suffice it to say, that thanks to various articles {& videos} I've read or seen about him, on the 'Web,' over the last two-to-three years, as a chess 'goodwill ambassador' {currently running, for the 'FIDE' Presidency}; I no longer wonder, what makes {Anatoly} Karpov, 'tick'..{so to speak}.
- Aside from myself being hard-pressed, to look as happy, as he looked,on his recent trip to "Singapore," {see link}; Those pictures, also would indicate, {to myself 'for starters'}, That No person, could look that genuinely happy; While secretly being a wife-beater, animal abuser, prone, to being a scoundrel; Or even, a secret Devil worshipper!

Pardon, my hyperbole`.. But whenever a decided Non-celebrity {Me}; Is Only able to see or read about a much more accomplished person; Only in the contextual category, of an endeavor, of which they excelled; Trying to figure out, what they are like, as a likable, or even unlikable person; At times, can be like being the first person, who decoded the "Rosetta Stone"! --

Now, for those rather convincing, pics {link}; Of an evidently, quite happily expressioned; And presumably, well adjusted/nice person; {GM} Anatoly Karpov. {you'll need to 'scroll' upon reaching the Web link}. http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=6547
