Re: Let the 'Heathen' be 'Dumbfounded' ..{news article, link}
Actuallly {pennine}; I didn't post that link, to prove to your own satisfaction {or those with similar beliefs}, the existence of a Deity; Even if it does at least suggest the existence of a 'Non-physical' 'ESP' related phenomena!

Which to your average "what you see, is about all what you get," physically-based skeptic; It Would appear to cause a degree of concealed discomfiture!
In so many words; That have been cited or alluded to, many-a-time before; The word 'faith,' by its own definition, is Not primarily, or even necessarily, secondarily; Proof based; D-U-H!? -- So if you thought {pennine}, I was going to debate with you, Re. my latest posted link, on that basis; All I can say is: 'W-R-O-N-G'!

Suffice it to say though; That there must be a 'bajillion' {my term} things in Life, that 'suggest' {as opposed to 'prove'}, a 'Higher-Power.' And I {and others I'm sure}, realize, that you and I would very easily, come under that famous quote {by, what's their name}, that: "To the {true} believer; No amount of explanation is necessary; Whereas, to the skeptic; No amount of explanation, is satisfactory"!
.. I assume {pennine}, that you have a sufficient amount of FAITH, that the Sun will 'rise' {or at least appear to}, tomorrow. Enough so, that you'd probably be willing to bet your lifes $aving$ on it!
In so many words; If you were to "Let Go, and Let God"; With that Same amount of the FAITH you have, in that the Sun will 'rise' tomorrow; Then, I have Good Reason to believe, that HE will be willing to 'meet you, halfway'!; Provided you're willing to show {at a minimum} 'the faith of a mustard seed'!
.. And since I would imagine, that similar to most All atheists, and-or agnostics; If you {hypothetically for now}, Were to "Let Go, and Let God," {as regards FAITH; Your Own}; That you haven't the foggiest notion {pennine}, as to how to go about it. There are quite a few Web-sites, that carry the 'Sinners Prayer.' And, surprise-of-surprises; I would imagine that that {sinners prayer}, Can be 'googled'!

Ps.- Rest assured, that I'm Not 'holding-my-breath'; Waiting for an appreciative response, from you. But isn't that what {the God-ordained}, human free-will, is all about, anyway?! {rhetorical}.

Though it remains to be seen {RAPTOR}, if this will continue to be your response, to anything on this particular 'thread' that I post, {which incidentally, is One Way of trying to obfuscate a Christian 'outreach' {to the unconvinced}, message}}; Assuming, your one word incredulous reply, was in regards to my earlier chosen phrase of: "Let Go, and Let God"; Suffice it to say, that there are many levels, of exhibiting or practicing, ones Faith!

For some people; It takes a threshold of Faith, which they haven't yet reached; Regarding, whether there even Is such an entity, as a Loving, Just and Righteous God!?

Whether or not, that applies to yourself; Only God/'JC' and You know!? .. But in conjunction with my earlier statement, about there being many levels of Faith, concerning God; The 'copy-and-paste' that follows, may appear {once again}, inscrutable to yourself.

.. Simply because, from the woman's testimony that follows; It's obvious {or should be}, that she has since crossed that initial 'barrier' {as it were}, as to the reality, of the 'God-of-the-Bible.'

But just like the second, third and fourth 'grades' of school, were all preceded by the "first grade"; And that in turn, was preceded {for many}, by "kindergarden"; It's quite possible, that you may find the following 'c & p,' as {no offense}, difficult to comprehend; As a 'kindergardener' would likely find the curriculum, in the first or second grade!?

The good news though; Is that 'God' {to keep things simpler; Though Jesus, is obviously a part of this!}; Is willing to 'meet' people, at whatever level of Faith understanding & belief, that you find yourself at!; Even the {Faith-level} 'kindergardeners' of the world! --

Let Go and Let God

Categories: Worry

Do not be anxious about anything but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

What a promise! This is an all-inclusive verse. Do not worry about ANYTHING.

Don't worry about the car payments, the house payments, the economy, your job or your health. Whatever is in your heart and mind, bring it to the Lord in prayer and in petition and do it with thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is such an important part of the process because it speaks to trust and confidence.

When we take our prayer requests to God and then continue to worry, it is as if we are saying, "Thanks so much for stopping to listen to me, but I'm not so sure you can help." In our soul we sense the dissonance in that line of thinking. We believe that God is able to do what He says He will do. Why then is it so difficult to rest in this promise that Paul brings before the church of Philippi? Don't be anxious about anything!

I think our need for control interferes with our trust in God. Joy and control do not make good roommates. I struggle with this daily. I've always found it hard to delegate. I figure if I do something myself then I know it will be done and done the way I think it should be. This spills over into my relationship with Christ. Doing makes me feel as if progress is being made. But that's not necessarily so.

I have faced a number of situations that lacked closure. I see clearly that I have two choices. I can bring these to God and then spend the rest of the day trying to figure out how I can "make things happen". Or I can bring my requests before God's throne of grace with a prayer of thanksgiving and confidence in Him and wait in the Lord.

The real difference is what happens in me after my initial prayer. If I make the first choice, I continue to worry and fret over the outcome. If I take the second route, the way by which Paul exhorts us to live, I come to an awesome promise. "The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

What a gift. The Word of God could not be clearer here. If we will relinquish control of our lives and place our trust in God with absolute confidence, the peace of God, which is beyond human understanding, will cover us, protecting our hearts and minds.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ps.- It's quite possible {RAPTOR} that much of the preceding were completely foreign concepts to your own ways of thinking!? -- But just like I suggested to "pennine"; There is always the "Sinners Prayer" 'googled' option. And even if you have No intention of searching for the 'Higher Power'; Rest assured, that, at Least 'for starters'; As long as you're 'breathing'; He {God}, hasn't given up on You!

I can only imagine what your resume would look like.

I am also wondering if you use the spoken word in the same fashion as your lame attempts to communicate in writing. With all the c&p from actual writers it would seem, by this time, you would have learned some of the basics. In the event you even read the stuff you copy.

While you are at it, big word dude, it is YOU that obfuscate (to make obscure or unclear) by the very style of your awkward writing.

Also, if YOU didn't post the initial link, well, who has control. of your account?

I'm sure that the feeling is mutual, RAPTOR. But for what it's worth; YOU'RE the defendant, in this metaphore-like cartoon, imho. {CAPS denote emphasis}. "Rots-of-Ruck," in your spiritual, Non-quest. --

They won't be googled by me. I laugh at your primitive myth of a god, your hilarious garbage of a creation story, your illogical pillars of your ridiculous faith.
Does that make it clear to you , whitelightening, you simpleton, that I'm not within a mustard seed of joining the flock of the hard wired brain dead robots, living a life of delusion.
