Chess and Music
On a curious note, does anyone else listen to music while they play? Just wondering what everyone else might listen to while they play. I like Disturbed, Three Days Grace, Crossfade, Breaking Benjamin, and Drowning Pool.

Re: Chess and Music
It varies with the individual, I'm sure. I could not possibly listen to music while playing a serious game. I would devote too much attention to it's form, the quality of the performance, the quality of the work, etc. When your profession is music, as mine is, I think it throws a different light on the matter. This is my first post here in quite a long time. I was rear-ended and injured awhile back. The ramming totaled my car, knocked me into the back seat, and, among other things, knocked my right eye a little out of kilter. From the time of the accident forward, including now, I could no longer see out of both eyes at the same time. One Ophthalmologist recommeded and performed Lasik surgery on both eyes, hoping in a great improvement. Instead it resulted in a marked worsening of the problem. I have been to four Ophthalmologists to try to get help, and go to a fifth next week. I hope this lastest one will be able to help me.

Hello Wizzard!

I do not know if you remember me from Classic caissa but I do remember you well. I am glad to know you are well after all that very serious incident.

The other day Pazuzu ( afrit) and I were talking about you and were wondering if you were all right...voilá the answer.

I hope everything will turn a OK with your eye and health in general to be enjoying more of your games...We hope to see* you because you are a cool guy, a strong player and a plus to this or any site.

As to the music topic I like to listen classical music when playing slow games or corr and NO noise ( any noise will break my concentration!)at all when g1 or g2.

Re: Chess and Music
Greetings, Wizard; The classical music selection, link, that follows, is my small contribution to raising your own {and every listener's}, literal, vibrational-energy-level; Which, along with, presumably; The prayers and thoughts, of Many.. on your behalf; Will help your {miraculous} healing process!

I'm a firm believer, that thoughts, {and.. more so, prayers}, are a tangible, if mysterious, part and parcel, of our universe; That can be 'tailored' to a need 'at-hand'!; While realizing, that as far as every 'believers' {total} physical restoration, is concerned, {regardless, of ones need}; It's Not a question, of 'If'?!; But rather, 'When'!?

.. 'For Faith, is the substance of things hoped for; The evidence, of things, not seen.' {'Scriptural'}.. and, God, bless.

Re: Chess and Music
Hello MM:

Since you brought this up about praying and healing I would like to mention a study I heard in national TV ( CNN I think) a few years ago was conducted thru out a year in many hospitals in the USA.

I do not remember the source who did that study but I saddly recall its conclusion:

After monitoring thosuands of medical procedures and comparing the outcome with the fact that some of them were having people praying for a good result it happened to end that those procedures that had people praying for their patients had slightly worse results that those who did not have any .

I was a bit disapointed but had to rethink that many times God is not a switch we turn out autmatically or that his way of listening may not show exactly as we want to when we want to...

Do you have any other data or information about this issue ??..since sometimes we heard things on TV that is just crap and maybe it distortion little by little your way to see or think about many things...

Re: Chess and Music
Hi, "BladeRunner".. My belief, is/was, Not founded, on any 'scientific' study; So much, as a belief.. in a more literal, than not, interpretation of the Bible; Which obviously, I've 'adopted' at some point in my past, {not sure, precisely when?!}.

But, since you mentioned it; I Did come across a 'study' {by, having 'googled': answered prayer, {many multiple links!; Probably, even involving, dozens of 'search-result,' pages!; see, link.. below}.

I'll continue 'surfing' for 'supportive' answers, of my 'world-view' on this, {as can others}; Though, what is even More interesting to me, {a 'Web' search, I've yet to start}; Are instances, of answered prayer, {on the part of many}, throughout history.

Offhand; I'm aware of two 'supporting' instances; The {fog-enshrouded}, {'WW2'} 'Brit' evacuation of "Dunkirk"; But for that fog, those circa, 100,000 English troops, supposedly would've been 'toast,' for the "Luftwaffe," etc.; Plus, General Patton's issuance, of a "general order," for the thousands of American troops, under his command; To "pray" for the 'lifting, of a major weeks-long, fog; During the "Battle of the Bulge." {both 'mass' prayers, came to a successful fruition!}. {: ..Here's the earlier mentioned link, I came across; Though, like I said; My belief, in the effectiveness in prayers, has nothing to do, {thus far, at least}; With having, 'googled' it! ..LOL
