.. Perhaps we're still, 30 some years from this coming to fruition; As in: "Old habits are hard to break"; but I think that the day will come, when the "World '960' Chess Championship," will at some point, come to be a more prestigious and financially rewarding event, than its conventional counterpart.
 
As things stand now, '960' is already without question, more creatively challenging than its immediate, and prosaic, conventional 'cousin'; But human nature has Always been resistant to change, in numerous fields... Even if it's for the better!; And 'Chess 960,' is no different in that respect; but its 'Day' Will come; At some point!
