33 Years Ago, Today
.. The cargo ship, "Edmund Fitzgerald" sank in Lake Superior, in a bad storm; Claiming all of its crew of 29.

Perhaps mercifully, for those who've heard the 'ballad' song, by the same name, a few times too many; I won't be posting the 6 minute.. plus, song... Available, on "YouTube."

{In my 'passing-the-torch' mode; To those who may feel, so inspired!}.

Re: 33 Years Ago, Today
It sunk in Lake Itchigumi, as the Indians call it.

SS Edmund Fitzgerald (nicknamed "Mighty Fitz," "The Fitz," or "The Big Fitz") was an American Great Lakes freighter launched on June 8, 1958. Until the 1970s, she was the largest ship on the Great Lakes. During a Lake Superior gale on November 10, 1975, the Fitzgerald sank suddenly, without sending any distress signals, in 530 feet (162 m) of water at 46°59.9′N 85°06.6′W / 46.9983, -85.11, in Canadian waters approximately 17 miles (15 nmi; 27 km) from the entrance to Whitefish Bay. All 29 hands in the crew perished, presumably by drowning. The incident is the most famous disaster in the history of Great Lakes shipping,[1] and is the subject of Gordon Lightfoot's hit song, "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald", as well as a piano concerto, "The Edmund Fitzgerald"[1]

Remember the song well.

EDIT: Gordon Lightfoot is,,, ohmygod,, CANADIAN!
