"Speed Chess" I've Ever Read!! {True!} ..'Web'-linked, 'blog,' with, 'hyper MU: I have played almost only speed chess, started g5, then g2´s and lately g1´s....I agree with some opinions reflected in the article: is addictive and superficial and do not improve your skills in serious chess. I am basically lazy so it was perfect for me since I used chess as a daily excercise for my brain, for fun. Thanks to the Snoop´s tourney of corr i played my first really slow games where i could examine all possibilities of a move..the other extreme. At first I started playing them as a g/10 game and making silly moves losing lots of unaswered Queen´s, but now after 20 so slow games I really enjoy 30/15 games and feel I am a bit better player of serious chess thanks to that variety. I agree wiith some of the opinions there that a mix of the 3 tempos can improve after all, my game. It is also another qualyfied view for those who sometimes say that speed ches is NOT chess! My play OTB is OK, but believe it or not, rating for rating, I have found myself in here to be better in speed. Not that I really care because to me, speed chess is candy for the idle mind; Chess is a monumental battle; Corr is the mother of all holy wars; Long live correspondence chess! |

What I look for is a like-minded opponent that wants to play a HUMAN besides, blitz chess programs now are unbeatable. Edited on 7 Nov 2008 at 20:53:41 |

"Speed Chess" I've Ever Read!! {True!} ..'Web'-linked, 'blog,' with, 'hyper I seem to have a slight concentration problem when it comes to loooooooooooong time frame games. I get bored, I mean reallllllly bored. I can hold it together for a g/5 with no problem but any longer is very tedious. I just accepted a corr game with wanna and my classic first move was 1. v9. I do hope he comes back with something I can work with, like RESIGN !!!!! I will try to get some revenge this time. Edited on 7 Nov 2008 at 21:09:44 |
