if you never tried to learn German
Then you don't know how lucky you are. To start off there are 3 basic ways to say 'the', depending on whether the noun is masculine feminine or neuter. Not as easy as it sounds. You would expect 'girl' to be feminine, but not so. Then depending on whether the girl is coming, going, staying in one spot, or has something, or is just about to sneeze, the number of ways to say 'the' reaches an alarming 12. For everyone who has battled with German, here is a nice article by Mark Twain.http://baetzler.de/humor/the_awful_german_language.var

Mark Twain, aka Samuel Clemens, was a goody

He was born on a day that Haley's comet was breezing by, and died the same way, on a day with same comet going by

Re: if you never tried to learn German
....i took some lessons at the Göethe institut and before you can start saying simple things you need a lot of lessons!.

It is also a very exciting language because many times the verb is at the end and when listening a tale you do not know what is going on until the last words....

...and like my son tales me the longest words are in german!...you can keep adding words forever!
