In some cases, it is quickly disappearing money. There are actually clocks to prove it. For many who did not know, there is a clock in Times Square that keeps track of the national debt of the United States, called, appropriately enough, the National Debt Clock. U.S. News & World Report says that it is running out of available space, that debt is accumulating so rapidly that it is down to its last digit - and that after the clock was altered to replace the "$" sign in September to accommodate the "1" that starts off ten trillion dollars. At present, the national debt is at a staggering $10.2 trillion and climbing. It does not reflect the extremely unpopular $700 billion bailout rescue package just passed by Congress, which economists expect to send the national debt past the $11 trillion level. The National Debt Clock was created by Seymour Durst in 1989. The Manhattan real estate developer thought it a good idea to inform the public about the profligate government debt being accumulated at an ever-growing rate. When the National Debt Clock was first placed in operation, the national debt was $2.7 trillion. When President Bill Clinton left Office, it was at $5.7 trillion; and currently, The Durst Organization, {which is run by Seymour Durst's son, Douglas Durst}, is working on a newer clock that will track into the quadrillions. The new National Debt Clock is scheduled to be erected in 2009. The Associated Press reports that, according to the Treasury Department, the national debt has risen by more than half a trillion dollars per year since 2003. There is a simple reason for this: the Iraq War; which most Gov't agencies cite, as about a $7.5 billion, ongoing, monthly expenditure; somewhat more, if our Afghanistan commitment is included; which doesn't even include our 32,000 Army troops in South Korea; 55 years after that war ended, in a 'truce'; or the circa, 200,000 {including, family dependents}, longstanding, U.S. deployment, in Europe; and this reporter, never got around to researching the cost, of our three major Naval fleets, around the world. - |

They won't let us die in the street, right, Yaman...? It would be stupid to think that. Hey little "a's",,,, the debt that these overseers and "representatives" have handed to us amounts to $146,666 per household of four. Still trust them? Sadly, I bet the SHEEPLE do. And just WHAT do the sheeple get for such a large grant of money to our caretakers,,, basic human needs like Universal Healthcare...? A SOLVENT retirement plan Go ahead, Yamna, Doorman, Pazuzu and others,, tell me why I should trust them. TRY it. you people are only kidding yourselves,,, it is clear you do not operate on "Common Sense" (Thomas Payne) |

DOORMAN,,, you just don't get it do you....? did you see my other post in here somepleace...? FY 2008 Almost THREE $Trillion in earmarks. do you know what earmarks are....? ways to BLOW money as opposed to give it back to the people, complete with kickbacks to phoney criminal legislators. DOORMAN,,, they HAVE the money to give us UHC and MORE, they only hold UHC up as an excuse to RAISE TAXES. and naive people like you are just encouraging them. repeat,, THEY HAVE THE MONEY! - Even without cutting in other areas of the budget, like military, foriegn aid, etc. How about FIVE million illegal aliens getting home loans from FannieMAe FreddieMAc...? They HAVE the money! and now, why are they not giving UHC to us? |
