However many innocent people are being badly impacted by the financial crisis, who did nothing wrong ---What kind of God does such a thing? Why do you gloat over the human misery that we are all witnessing?
 
The left will say with their bitter, arrogant solipsistic mind set: "It's those damned republicans with their greedy capitalist dereulation ways that have ruined everthing."
 
When we all know that virtually every congressmen and senator had something to do with the current state of affairs and their constituencies benefited financially in some way with the sub-prime lending feast over the last 6-8 years.
 
God had nothing to do with it. (He) doesn't punish us. We punish ourselves with the choices we make. A political mind set is not to blame. Humans are greedy and selfish, when they think they see a situation that they can exploit.
 
This a very human affair, with very obvious reasons why we are in this mess. All I can say is there needs to be more oversite at the top, along with accountability --- Congress should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this happen. They don't care about people. They only care about their own ambition and gain. It's terrifying to think that this country and in a way humanity hangs in the balance, while these lunatics plan and scheme at the cost of us all.

There has to be a better way --- I can appreciate your response but it is abit too cynical for my taste. There has to be a better system of checks and balances within Congress themselves --- public watch dog committees --- routine audits and investigations --- There should be a white collar crime version of the RICO statute. These are the laws that helped bring down the mafia and drug cartels. When you start taking Congressman's homes and pensions and their kids trust/college funds then you'll get their attention. --- Hit'em where it hurts -- right in the wallet.

The problem I see is that should and if someone has the fortitude (balls) to begin to actually organize this, well, I think the IRS,CIA, FBI, NSA, BSoA and probably the Gils Scouts also and all of the other three letter groups would destroy us before we could get the third phone call out.

I Agree with that, MATE, but what do you do in cases where their "crime" is pork spending w/ kickbacks,, EARMARKS, as an example?
 
We all know how that works, just add some phoney expenditure onto a bill, say appropriations for a "Bridge to Nowhere", and although their transgression would be considered poor judgement or a waste of money at worst, how can you instantly claim fraud? that has to be proven. Yet we all know what is going on,, some PACK of wolves is getting big kickbacks. They should be fired just for the suspicion and the total waste of money - like we can afford that.
 
Anytime funds are appropriated, one also has to consider our overall debt, and yes, spending everything right now, even if it is on soemthing LEGIT, is "crazy spending", if the debt grows, but is it a crime? try to prove that one, too. "Poor judgement" is the best you can hope for in a federal court.
 
the only way to do it is to have the people vote on all these measures. It is OUR money, not theirs, and we have to be the ones to decide. Otherwise, with no OVERSITE, they will always spend on the side of their own well being and at our dire expense.
 
Since the beginging of time, things our legislators would NEVER allow us to be involved in the decision making are:
 
1. How much - if at all, people should be taxed
2. how much a congressman gets paid / what benefits he receives
3. how much should be spent - the annual budget
4. what it should be spent on - wars, bridges to nowhere,
 
Like I said in another post,,, just our DEBT alone amounts to about $150,000 per household of four, PLUS the amount of money we have paid them and what,,,, still no Universal Healthcare...? Still have to STEAL from the social security fund??
 
Instead, we have war over here, war over there, a thousand "Bridges to Nowhere", all shit we don't need but they want.
 
It is crystal clear we had no say in ANY of that. it is also crystal clear,, THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US.
 
So the answer is, I guess, WE have to manage our own home, because our "Caretkers" are stealing us blind. and killing US and AMERICA at the same time.
 
And the only way they will EVER relenquish the kind of power to spend $trillions every year is with their facing a revolution and guns pointing at them.
 
WE all may think this is a democracy, but if the people ever proposed an amendment such as the people determining the budget and line items, for people to vote on,, I promise you, it would never get done, they would "excuse" the people to death as to why they think we can't decide for ourselves and they would prevent a vote.

Remember --- diabolical people require things to be complicated, unfair,anonymous and dysfunctional in order for them to move about in the shadows. The beauty about honesty is it requires simplicity, transparency and accountability -- evil, fraud -- whatever you want to call it cannot thrive in such an environment.
 
I dont have a serious problem with earmarks and some pork barreling -- I not naive enough to think that everyone is going to act in an altruisitc manner. It's called politics for a reason. A little back rubbing is what it takes sometimes to make the big machine work.
 
There are ways to prevent abuse.
 
Every bill/piece of legislation must contain an itemized section of the act/proposal etc, along with the cost. Each piece of legislation must follow a simple direct template.
 
In addition, each piece of legislation must be publicly posted --- on a governemnt website and announced to the public of the governemnts intent. (no sneaking bills in at the last minute 2 days before a major holiday so no one is aware of whats happening)
 
Any bill that exceeds a specific amount of tax dollars is immediately put under legal and financial review by a third party auditor. Banks do it all the time.
 
And lastly (its all i can think of for the moment) have a rating system for all the senators and congressman in terms of their financial efficiency (The NRA rates politicians in terms of their voting record on gun laws. Pro life groups rate politicians on their voting record for pro life bills.) They may sneak one past the people every once in a while, but it catches up with them. Everytime it is determined that an indivdual or individuals have wasted money it impacts their financial rating --- they'll make sure that number stays nice and high if they want to be re-elected.
 
I know these things would be difficult to enact, but its the spirit of what is being said that is important --- remember simplicity, transparency and accountability make it difficult for people to commit fraud. I am sure there are people out there with even better ideas to maintain three simple tenets.
