Reply | 29 Sep 2008, 16:26:27   2008 MLB Baseball Playoffs,,, Who's In It.... Who Wins It "Biff Barf, here" Here is how the playoffs are looking, pending the Twin's last game today. Right now, the Twins must win a makeup game today and then play the white sox to see who gets in. A loss today, and they are gone. Seeing as though it is a 1/4 shot for the Twins to win out, we will for NOW, say the White Sox win the division. Here is how it looks: American League (4) Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Angles, Boston Red Sox (wildcard) National league (4) Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers (wild card) Round 1: Red Sox v. Angels; Sox got beat 6 straight times by the Angels this year. Boston's big hope relies on coming back from a lost position and winning against clubs with inferrior relievers. Not SO here! - with the Angles who boast K-Rod, the ace closer, they easily match Boston's Papelbom and will win this matchup. Angles SWEEP 3-0 White Sox v Rays; The white sox (twins?) made it in only because their division is horrible. Tampa will have no problem dispatching this bunch of duds. Rays SWEEP 3-0 Brewers v. Phillies; Phillies should be better, but the Brewers have their stud, last years' Cy Young winner, CC Sabathia. Too bad CC had to pitch yesterday to secure a win so that the Brewers could get in. He also started his last three starts on three days rest,,, Is he exhausted?? depseration moves for the Brewers! Phillies win 3-2. Dodgers v. Cubs; A Great Series! both are capable of going all the way, Cubs win in a close one 3-2. Round 2, League Championships: Rays v. Angles; Angles have the experience, Tampa has too much youth in the pitching for this year, but watch out NEXT year! Angels take it 4-2 Cubs v. Phillies; Both clubs have reputations for blowing the big playoff games, especially the Cubs, who have not won the championship in 100 years. But this year,,, they break the mold. Cubs win 4-2 Round three, Wold Series; Chicago Cubs v. Los Angels Angels; The Cubs will fill millions of hearts with joy with a victory this year. And they are what they are because of their coach, the fiery, fiesty, Lou Pinella, the same coach that formed the young Tampa Bay Rays you see today. "Sweet Lou" is t'a best! in the business. Yes folks! the "miracle" finally happens this year,,, CUBS WIN!! CUBS WIN! 4-3, in a series for the ages. And all you Chicago Caissa dudes and dudettes, (ElRey, Chetach) watch out!! The city of Chicago will come down in a glorious heap of flames! Chicago Cubs, 2008 MLB Champions. This is Biff Barf,,,, on sports. |

I'm sure many of us route with our hearts just as I did tonight with the Twins. Wholeheartedly agree that the Brewers over-used Sabathia at the end. It may have been necessary but it'll cost them in the series. (Yaman has to be somewhat happy about this situation). GO PHIILIES (even though their mascot is bizarre) Ok, still routing from the heart... I routed for the Angels when they beat the Giants - fun Series to watch. But they changed their name to Los Angeles GO BOSTON. Even more so without Manny. It was easy to jump on the Rays bandwagon. Good talent, no one to be pissed off at. GO RAYS. I'm worried the Cubs/Dodgers could go the full 5 games. GO CUBS (3-1). |

Who Wins It Just so folks will know (or does I made my predictions and I stand by them until I lose. Trencher,,, I ::HEART:: my red sox,, and I can always hope,,, anything can happen in a short series,,, but.... They played heartless ball all year. they were swept FIVE times this year, just off the top of my head - (Tampa 2 sweeps, angels 2 sweeps, toronto 1 sweep) there may have been more than that. It's all good, though,,, I'll be putting on my seatbelt tonight, Good luck to all with teams in it. |

Reply | 7 Oct 2008, 14:20:07   Re: 2008 MLB Baseball Playoffs,,, Who's In It.... Who Wins It Round 2,,, League Championships: American League: Boston Red Sox v. Tampa Bay Rays The defending champions of baseball, the Boston Red Sox, surprised in the divisional playoff round with an upset win over the Los Angeles Angels. The Tampa Bay Rays, who like the Los Angeles Angels,, had their way with the Red Sox this past regular season and are looking to keep the "drive alive" and continuing to dominate the Red Sox. The Red Sox have all the crafty veterans that have "been there, done that", while the upstart Rays have all five starting pitchers under age 26 and throwing for a franchise that has never been in the playoffs before. Guile wins! Red Sox win, 4 games to 3. National League: Philadelphia Phillies v. Los Angels Angels Neither team is a real surprise being there, both are very good clubs. I think the phillies want this one more, but the Dodgers have a much better history in the playoffs and especially, the World Series. History wins. Dodgers win, 4 games to 2. Then to the world series.,... Red Sox successfuly defend over the Dodgers, 4-3. |

Who Wins It I know that I'm 'whistlin' Dixie'; but I liked the 'old days' better!; fewer teams to keep track of; No 'undeserving' post-season 'wildcard' qualifiers; where a team's regular season won-lost record, was more of a factor; and 'thumbs down,' on inter-league reg. season games; where Those match-ups, should Only go to the two deserving "World Series" teams; which Also added, to the largely since lost 'mystique,' of the "World Series"! The only exception {'imho'}, being 'instant-replay'; which should've been instituted, Years ago!.. |

Reply | 17 Oct 2008, 13:29:31   Re: 2008 MLB Baseball Playoffs,,, Who's In It.... Who Wins It There it was... game 5... the champs were down on the count, 3 games to 1. 7th inning, the champs losing 7-0, and if it holds, the red sox are eliminated. Up off the mat steps ROCKY!!! Ta-daaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.. Red Sox win!!! the red sox come back and win 8-7 in the bottom of the 9th inning! series 3-2, tampa's favor, back down to Tampa for games 6 and possibly 7. Yaman! it ain't over yet. Philly-Boston is still a possibility, the red sox been in worse predicaments - like down 3-0 to yankees and winning in 4 straight in '04. How kewl was THAT! I'm know I am a begushed red sox fan, but come on guys and gals,,, do we really want to see Tampa Bay in the WORLD SERIES??? Who d'ey???? and "Why must I lose to this IDIOT?" |

I am routing for the Rays but hold no animosity towards the Beaners. Like them even better for getting rid of Manny. They certainly have the momentum now. Tknight |

Tknight I'm sick.... it hurt.. a LOT. but,,, Rays deserved it... no questions asked. no controversies,, not nothing that makes me think that the rays weren't the better team. again,, PITCHING. that scares me beacuse the reays have a lot of YOUNG pitching. and they will contend for YEARS if they can afford to hold onto them. well at least yaman go it in... g'night, |

It was fun and nerve racking to watch all at the same time. The two teams in the World Series are my two favorites (except for the Cubs) this year. And on top of all that: David Price. Been watching him at Vanderbilt since I moved here. Very dominating final inning and a third. I hope the WS is as exciting. And Snoop, you have basketball, hockey, and football now I don't care for the Patriots but I'll be routing for the Celts & Bruins. |

You guys won because you were the better team, that is for sure. Kudo's and good luck in the series. EDIT: I would like to point out to all that Tampa Bay won this league championship with a team salary of about $14.5 million, the approximate salary of Boston right fielder, JD Drew. hats off to the better team Edited on 21 Oct 2008 at 00:14:50 |

Who Wins It I wanted to see phillies beat red sox for the title.Tampa is probably better than Philly they won more games in the regular season playing in the tougher league. Nonetheless Phillies in 5.Hamels dominates in game 1 and then clinches it next monday night in philly before a rabid mad dog crowd at citizens bank. After waiting 25 years for any kind of championship Philly will go wacky when it happens |
