Obama lives or dies by his politics, IMO. he also is up against the "powers to be" that want America to continue to invade the world. and yes, they are extremely influential |

Reply | 28 Aug 2008, 13:01:31   Re: Historic Day It has been asserted in several quarters, {ie. Michael Savage {on the 'Web'}, worldnetdaily.com & Steven Quayle..{also, on the Web}, among others; that for the past {circa} 45-50 years, both major parties nominees, are merely "front men" for the supposed 'Real Powers,' working largely "behind the scenes"; one of which, is the technically 'Non-{U.S.} governmental, "Federal Reserve Board"; along with various powerful 'special-interests' that prefer the U.S. immigration policies, remain mostly 'toothless'... which Both Msrs. McCain & Obama, have similar {immigration} views on{!?} .. Ps. Thankfully, I'll be about ready to 'check out,' when the USA reaches the 400 mil. people mark; as I'll turn 58 in Feb. |

Oh, and PS: right back at you, I turn 58 about a month before you Edited on 28 Aug 2008 at 17:10:02 |

Especially for people like myself, who don't have the diet willpower, to walk or bike around, without a respectable 'potbelly'; with the below- average life-spans, that usually accompany people who like their twinkies, fries and chocolate-malts! ..{No, that does Not constitute my total diet}. |

I am not so sure we are willing to elect a Black extreme left wing (as verified by his Senate voting record) socialist. Did you really listen to his DNC acceptance speach? He sounded like ...well a Republican: free enterprise, less governemrnt intervention --- going to lower taxes?! When was the last time you heard a socialist liberal talk about any of these points? (in positive terms) He is borrowing a page right out of the Clinton playbook --- play the centralist role, even moderate right wing if you have to, in order to get the the all important undecided voters. Many voters would turn and run in the other direction, if he really discussed the things that matter to him: higher taxes/ social governemnt welfare programs, universal healthcare and the systematic destruction of the US military. Basically modeling the US after every liberals wet dream: Europe. I say No merci beaucoup Monsieur Obama --- |

What does that tell ya 'bout the smarts of the American voter. I always get a chuckle when my Republican friends try to apologize for George W Bush by asking without a trace of irony, "Well would you rather go back to when Clinton was President?!" Well yes, yes I would. Let's see under Clinton: $1/gal. gas. Check. Low taxes on middle class. Check. Strong US currency worlswide. Check. Rising home values. Check. Low interest rates. Check. $200 billion budget surplus. Check. Record low unemployment. Check. Record high job creation. Check. Booming stock market. Check. Low food prices. Check. I could go on. So even if you don't like clinton persoanlly, at least he delivered for the middle class. Posted by greenjeans, proud member of the reality-based community for over 30 years! ![]() |

Reply | 1 Sep 2008, 04:05:36   Re: Historic Day That's why ideally, this country could Really Use a "Ross Perot," type, 'tell-it-like-it-is' strong & viable third-party; since Both the 'Dems' & 'Repubs' {my abbreviation}, are working with 'cooked' figures; where the future obligations of most {or perhaps, all} federal-entitlement-programs {Social {in}Security for starters}, are Not counted against the supposed, U.S. "federal surplus"; which has since been made much worse, with 'GW's Iraq war, still being treated as an 'off-the-books' financial obligation; along with the latest, "Fannie Mae" and "Bear Stearns," {investment 'lottery' banks}, and their gov't billion$, in financial bailouts. You gotta 'love' Federal Reserve Board chairman's, Bernanke's attitude; 'Hell, we'll just rev-up the currency printing presses, inflation, be damned'! .. Incidentally, I read some months ago, on Steven Quayle's, authoritive Web site; that for the past 18 mos. or so, the US Federal Reserve {'Bank'}, has secretly & unilaterally, moved its currency printing presses to South Korea; where the wages for doing that sort of work are both lower, and more "out-of-sight, out-of-mind"{!?!} |

Reply | 1 Sep 2008, 15:00:46   Re: Historic Day well then, you have to be happy with Ron Barr, the Libertarian. I know I am. Also, the repub from Texas is also good. "Dr. NO" - can't recall his name. He also ran for president as a libertarin. the reason why the party keeps losing leaders to the repubs is, the libertarians refuse to take federal funding for their elections/candidates and bigwig party members AS THEY SHOULD. And on a lesser note, former massachusetts governor, R. Bill Weld, was also a Libertarian. so their own principles of non-theivery from federal tax payers tend to sink them - basically because Americans can no longer appreciate a non-thief. true story |

I find the USA healthcare system barbaric and on a par with third world countries. As long as you are working fine but if you become unemployed and are in bad health you are totally screwed. How can that be fair? All US citizens should have access to affordable health care period. |

Reply | 1 Sep 2008, 17:20:19   Re: Historic Day you gotta give to get, yaman. like anything the feds touch, health care will become something they milk to death. you can make the same argument for social security,,,, if we did not have a retirement program for people, they'd be screwed. but the truth of the matter is, the republocrats stole that money long ago, and replaced it with worthless IOU's. So it is not that the idea is bad, it is giving that kind of POWER to worthless, criminal scumballs is suicidal for Americans. Did you see how america errupeted over the Enron scandle...? I have to laugh! Enron is a peehole in the snowbank compare to the SS scandle. Yet nobody revolts. everyone is convinced, "They'll protect us in the end" and BTW, before the government tinkered with health care, it was acutally fairly cheap. Now that the government is involved, EVERYBODY including docotrs and drug companies bribing doctors to pump things like oxyconton, are miliking the system for everyting they can steal. That's why we have a healthcare problem in America, as far as I am concerned. when you think of money to steal from the health care system, think "Hillary Clinton". that is the type of thieving scumball that wants to control the healthcare rackets. 'Nuff said. |

The issue of corruption is simple.Make the penalties so draconian that the crooks will be afraid to steal.I don't like the Saudi's but nothing wrong with chopping of the arms of political thieves etal. |
