The spirit of the olympics
Sally McLellan really only wanted to get through the heats and make the final in the 100 m hurdles. A medal was just a dream. But her dream came true. It's great to see athletes thrilled to bits about winning silver or bronze. Here she is, unpolished and down to earth, country town fair dinkum Aussie. Good on ya , Sal.http://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/sunrise and click on the photo

Re: The spirit of the olympics
That's a pity. Must be a copyright issue. But my favorite moment so far, came from the weightlifting. This big Russian guy , with his last lift, gave it all he had , and got the three white lights. Surely got the gold in the bag. Next up, the fat Latvian...got the bar half way and dropped it.Finally came the stout German, not as big as the others, but clearly he'd been feasting on a few plates full of wursts for brekkie for the last 4 years. And it wasn't that he had to lift 10 kg more than he'd ever lifted, to win the gold. Nor the impressive physical strength on display, which made this an emotional moment. It was when the German, Mattias Steiner received his gold medal, and he raised his arms in triumph, and held up a photo of his wife, who had been tragically killed in a car crash. He had come on a mission to win for his wife and succeeded. Great story.
