And we are still paying the price. The roots of the trouble in Iraq and Zimbabwe were laid by the British... Edited on 28 Jun 2008 at 14:22:04 |

Even history authors are prejudiced when they tell us the facts/evidence. PB always sounds controversial whenever I see him on TV. You seem to like this icon ... |

Why those wizards chose to do so is beyond me, but the trouble it caused then and that exists today is quite clear. Also, a Brit general drew a line in the sand and "created" Kuwait, which at the time, was Kuwait, the 19th province of Iraq. Said Brit General did this to punish Iraq because this move took the shipping ports away from Iraq. Brilliant! and of course, the British had a lot to do with partitioning Palestine into mandated Palestine and a Jewish homeland, mostly for the hundreds of thousands of European Jews who were brought to Palestine to resettle, mostly by England. And we can all see the tremendous wisdom that proved to be. no doubt about it, European/American meddling in the ME over the decades is the biggest reason why there is chaos in the region. |

The Mongol invasions in the thirteenth century would be the root cause for the demise of the cradle of civilization and birthplace of mathematics. The same event can also be heralded as the cause of European dominance. Without the influx of Arab intellegencia from the east and the work of the Moors in modern day Spain around the same time period, I doubt Europe has the correct seeds planted for the Renaissance. Blaming post WWI England seems like blaming the creation of the State of Oklahoma for the devistation of the Native American culture rather the genocidic war the US government waged prior to the induction of the state into the union. I don't believe that Western intervention is the solution for the cultural divides in the ME, but they aren't necessarily the cause either. --SoCo |

Comfort,,,, the changes that were foisted on those people (No, the Iraqis in Kuwait did not want to be separated from Iraq) are being fought today. it isn't like one or two battles were fought and the wounds were left to heal themselves. the harm continues today and will be there tomorrow. how do you think Americans would respond if - say a superpower China, made the northern states in america part of canada...? - or an independant country in intself? you know we would fight. this is logical. your arguments are fairminded but they have not convinced me that western meddling in ME afairs is NOT responsible for the chaos in the ME, especially in palestine/israel. |
