The New Caissa is on an entirely different level than the old one and everyone should be playing on it. Enough said. Don't be a wuss...make the switch. -Knight |

Reply | 23 Mar 2008, 15:47:07   Re: Old Caissa is trash compared to the new one ..Nostalgia for how 'things' Used to be {in whatever area} will Always be regarded more affectionately by the majority of people, than how things are proceding, and are probably headed; due in part because, as time 'goes on'.. people tend to forget the things that annoyed them in the past, and mainly focus on what is presently {supposedly} 'griping' them! ..Perhaps all those with short memories have since largely forgotten; but back in the 'good-old-days' of Caissa's Web, there was a substantial amount of discord among those who had "Mars" connectivity, {with faster running clocks, and "resign"-functions that worked}, versus the circa 30% of 'Non-Mars' 'engine' players, with the ridiculous slower- running game-clocks, and the inability to notify a "Mars"- connected opponent that they had 'in fact,' resigned! ..So much for Caissa's Web 'good-ol'-days'{!?} 0: |

So how can you compare the past with the present? As for me, I don't give the chess interface the time of day anymore so it really doesn't matter if it is better or worse. My experience with it was that it was certainly worse, though it sounds like some improvements may have been made along the way. I'm betting that had those improvements been done in another way they wouldn't have lost such a large share of their audience. Cheers IBIJ |

Otherwise you would be on the list of Senior Members (top 100). IBIJ is there (he came on March 9,1998,and I am there (I came on Oct.31 1997)but you are not listed. Guess time does not always fly. You have been here 9 years,5 months. But that is long enough to know what the old site was like. Diggy p.s. and what I said was you had to come here after April 26,1998. Yes,Oct. 15,1998 is after April 26,1998. Trust but Verify per Ronald Regan.... Edited on 24 Mar 2008 at 04:21:40 |
