BUT, for a game that drove ME crazy check out this Chess Variant (Recognized by The London Chess Centre) PROTEST CHESS. Be sure to watch the game that put ME in the Toilet (Guenter's Black Vulture Attack) September 1999. I have just recovered and playing Regular Chess from my room in the Local Mental Hospital. If you are interested in playing an Protest Chess Game, send ME an email and I will give it a try once again. My Doctor said he would monitor my mental health during the game - so that I don't develop some of the effects (see icon for effects) that have happened in the past. The Mirror problem was especially bad. The web address is : http://www.edburrell.com/Chess/protest_chess |

I also like how they try not to disturb the 'order' of regular chess as he said. I wonder if would be too powerful to be able to move, and protect via. bringing a new piece (hawk or elephant) onto the board in one move.....I also wonder of the new role of the pawns! opening lanes becomes Everything with these powerful pieces. anyhow. very creative. |

'Seirawan chess' I downloaded is about a month old; plus, the two main chessplayers involved {Yasser, & B. Harper} have other primary 'Real World' responsibilities; the details Re. this new variant {including where one can buy the "hawk" and the "elephant" pieces} are sketchy.. at best; but here's some admittedly sparse info. I came across {see, below} while 'googling' 'Seirawan' in a 'blog search.' {Yes, there IS a separate "Google" 'blog-search,' search-engine!}. If you're interested in getting the pieces or promoting the game in your community, please send an email to: bruce at- seirawanchess.com {he's a personal friend of Yasser's who co-developed the game with him}. Regards, Len Molden Seirawan Chess Promoter {comment: Admittedly, 'semi-pathetic' in getting new games/chess- variants, 'off-and-running' go, {as in the absence of any mention of specific game directions!?} but I imagine the same feelings also held true on another level, regarding the initial organizing of Geo. Washington's 'colonial army'!}. 0: |

They should have powers of King and Knight ('elephant') and King and Bishop ('hawk'), respectfully, not Rook and Knight and Knight and Bishop. The 'Hawk' should be called the 'Archer' to be consistent with kings, queens, knights, and all that jazz, and it's a cool piece, he can shift one square and fire on black or white diagonals. The other piece is a stomping piece and can shift in the centre to cover eight white or black central squares in one move. I'm thinking....Paladin. So, Archer with King and Bishop, Paladin with King and Knight powers. They come onto the board into play as Seirawan suggested, and there's no threat of those crazy supported mates out of the opening. what do you think?! Edited on 28 Feb 2008 at 02:32:49 |

The idea to keep various strategy games 2-to-3 'steps' ahead of being solved by computers through the introduction of new pieces {or even board squares} is laudable; provided that losing a game doesn't spur too much of the feeling on the part of a loser of.. 'Where the Hell did that 'shot' come from?!' |

For the record, in several senses we're already experiencing 'Eternity'! ..Some theologian once commented to an avowed atheist: "This {earthly} life is the only 'hell' I'll ever know; and barring a 'change-of-heart' on your part, the only 'heaven' that you'll ever know." {Bear in mind the I'm merely 'a messenger' {one of multitudes, in fact} as in, don't hate/'kill' the messenger}. { : |
