Reply | 21 Feb 2008, 03:02:14   Good books out there? Anyone reading anything interesting out there?! here's a recent list. i've been looking at (a), reading (e), or read (r) in the past little bit. is there anything good out there to read lately? looking forward to some ideas. 1. citizen of the world, the life of pierre elliot trudeau (e) 2. the trouble with physics, lee smolin (man oh man would you like this one) (r) 3. bobby fischer goes to war (good stuff on spassky) (r) 4. from the board to the boardroom, garry kasparov (material, quality, and time...and karpov...:O) (r) 5. a stubbornly persistent illusion, the essential scientific works of albert einstein, stephen hawking (just bought) (a) ---hawking must be nearning death, he's consolidating a lot of great works together (god created the integers--is a great collection of famous mathematics papers from 18C to 20C), and at a glance it's a nice mix of old tensor notation and good story-telling :P magazines: SEED magazine. suprisingly interesting science magazine. scientific american sucks now. anyhow, there's a lot of good politics books out there from tv hosts...any recommendations are welcome. Keep in mind that for many, esp. the 'unbeliever', much of what's contained therein will figuretively go 'right- over-your head'! .. Sort of like expecting to compre- hend 'Algebra 3,' let's say.. as your initial exposure to Any Algebra{!} .."For the wisdom of God is foolishness, to the natural {unbelieving} man....." |
