But of course , can you trust a christian to be true to their word. Absolutely not. The proof will be in the date pie come March.

Reply | 2 Dec 2007, 17:16:37   Re: ISLAMIC EXTREMIST ..You're "not sure what that {"Alaska-or-bust," reference} has to do with the ministry"? ..I don't think it's just me {that believes this} but, We Are ALL 'ministers'{!}.. {if only in the form of examples} of one sort or another, including of one quality or another; think of our long-ago school "grades' ; ie. A-B-C-D, and who can forget the "E"s.. and their 'near-cousin, "F"s! ..Even the Apostle Paul made reference to each believer representing a different part of the collective "Body-of-Christ," {ie. serving a different if {hoped for} complimentary function}.. and by way of il- lustration, {'Saint'} Paul commented on the ridiculousness of the thought of one particular body-member, claiming to have no need of another, different, body-member! ..I would imagine that Even the 'unsaved' have their collective- 'ministry' counterpart, since even their 'works'..{esp., when thought of collectively} cannot help, but have an influence {for better, or.. if usually worse} in our world! ..The 'Dalai Lama' being one of those less-often-seen, "unsaved" {in the conventional sense-of- the-word} influences for 'good'. |

Reply | 2 Dec 2007, 21:59:21   Re: ISLAMIC EXTREMIST Well yes, each of us do have our own talents for building the body of Christ. However what does a joke that does not have any reference to God or Christlikeness have to do with the fruits of the spirit or the talents that believers are blessed with? If I wasn't confused before I sure am now. Cheers IBIJ |

Reply | 2 Dec 2007, 23:23:27   Re: ISLAMIC EXTREMIST ..'IBIJ', said: Well yes, each of us do have our own talents for building the body of Christ. However what does a joke that does not have any reference to God or Christlikeness have to do with the fruits of the spirit or the talents that believers are blessed with? If I wasn't confused before I sure am now. ..First off, although there was and is an element of humor in it, it wasn't your 'average joke', but rather a "true story" {Yes, I once Was at the "Prince Rupert, B.C." ferry-terminal {with my mother}.. and we actually saw that sign on a car, just as I described it!} ..I also have to assume that the unknown person {or persons} in 'question were also describing their plight; though naturally, to what 'degree' it was true, I can't attest to. ..No offense, 'IBIJ', but I believe that your own concept of what constitutes "a ministry" is Too narrowly focused{!}.. as if, Only a "minister" {maybe even, only an "ordained minister," for all I know, in your own mind} can be thought of as having "a ministry"{!?} ..N-O-T!! ..The person that initially made me realize that this was Not the case, was my 'middle' {in age, progression} brother..{I have 2 brothers}.. when I once related to him a TV interview I saw {many years ago}, of 'the late' {I think} Bob Giaccone{sp?}.. the former owner/editor-in-chief of "Penthouse" Magazine, {known by many of us, as a 'porn' mag.} .. when, in defending himself to the newswoman interviewing him, asserted, "I am not a minister"; whereupon my 'middle' brother said: "You know, in a way he is!" {ie. by promoting and representing the 'hedonist' lifestyle, with many pics of unclothed young women}.. or "pornography," to many of us! ..Keep in mind, that just because one has a "ministry," {regardless, of the job involved, or circumstances} does Not necessarily mean that it Has- to-Have a positive-impact on society at-large; to cite, as an extreme negative-example, a 'Satanic-church' "minister," or promotion-related "ministry" of whatever nature{!}..{even your 'sideline'{?} 'health-food' business-"ministry," if you will. ..Anyway, ever since then, I've been of the opinion of.. Who's to say that even the most circumstantially-humble among us {ie. a 'bum' on the street, asking for a quarter or quarters.. perhaps} are Not All "ministers" in the broader, or even "broadest" sense of the term!; and in-the-process, playing-out a specific role-in-life.. that usually, unavoidably, interacts with others! P.s.- In anticipating a possible posed question by you {'IBIJ'} Re., 'What do I view as pornography?' {relating to an earlier reference} the best answer I ever heard to that question, was by a former U.S. Supreme Court justice, which was: "I know it, when I see it." {fini} |

Reply | 3 Dec 2007, 02:41:58   Re: ISLAMIC EXTREMIST Hi Gamma No, I'm not going to take the porn path of discussion. What I am curious about is how something that has no relation in any way to anything biblical can be considered a ministry. Ministers don't have to be ordained, as all God's people should indeed have their own ministries. But shouldn't they in some way at least point an elusive line to God? I don't get how this bumper sticker provided any ministerial direction at all, and so far no one has been able to answer that question for me. Oh well, such appears to be the case on the CAISSA MISC BB. Cheers IBIJ |

Reply | 3 Dec 2007, 04:51:04   Re: ISLAMIC EXTREMIST ..There's something about these back-and-forth postings with 'IBIJ' that sort of makes me feel that I'm explaining to a 'highly doubting' youngster, in what way {drawing an anology} "two plus two, equals four"{!?}.. but be that as it may, in answer to your quandary, 'IBIJ', whoevever said that a ministry Has to be 'God related' {to paraphrase you}.. except, by your Own assumption, of course! .. Keep in mind, that I was referencing the word "ministry," in the "broader or even broadest, sense-of-the-word"; though I can't 'speak' to what was, {and apparently continues to}, go on in Your Own thought processes{?!} ..To show you that I'm Not arbitrarily making up my own definitions of what a given word {ie., "ministry"} stands for; the "infoplease {on-line} dictionary," {among others} gives as one of the multitude of secondary definitions for "ministry," as: 9. something that serves as an agency, instrument, or means. ..I 'rest-my-case'; ie., no mention of a 'God connection' in this, one-of-many 'secondary meanings'.. which I previously alluded to, by earlier making reference to, the "broader or {even} broadest, sense-of-the-word," meaning. ..And no, it wasn't me that choose this post's long-running subject- heading{!}.. they've deviated from a given subject-heading, many-a-time before, and I have little doubt that that will periodically, continue to be the case{!} ..Although for-the-record, my earlier post Re. the "Michigan busted" sign, Was a reference to two different parties ending their "ministry" {and the word you earlier chose; but with each of us ascribing different {primary} meanings to.. confusing, huh?!.. in at least two different forums/ways. ..Incidentally, if you Still want to think that my latest explanation makes me out as a certified 'nut-case', or what have you, feel free to think that... since I shall keep All of my further opinions Re. You, to myself.. He-He!!..{ : |

Reply | 3 Dec 2007, 10:54:39 In reply to gammaburst Re: ISLAMIC EXTREMIST Hi Gamma The English language is indeed confusing sometimes. You are correct, when thinking of a "ministry", I do automatically relate it to God since that is my own personal passion. There are indeed other ways to take that word, (aka the Muslim extremist chose death as ministry on 9/11). Though I dare say that you would not read that headline in any American made news.
