Reply | 2 Nov 2007, 02:38:05   Doctrines of 7th Day Adventism - Submitted per HallofMirrors request Hi HallofMirrors I'd be glad to answer that question while everyone else takes a collective grown. See, before Gamma and myself this was a thriving MISC BB that rallied somewhere between rat turds and slug bait. It was disgusting to say the least... thanks to our combined but ununited efforts all that has changed. Now it's just empty instead. 7th Day Adventists follow Scriptures closer than any other denomination I've ever been a part of. Sure, they have errors of understanding just like everyone else, but when we do come to understand something as it relates to direct revelations from God's Word we simply accept what God's Word says as well... the truth. One of the biggest doctrines we support should be self-evident within the name of our denomination. We worship on God's Holy Day, the 7th day, instead of any other day. Any idea what day the 7th day of the week is? We also take a position on what happens after death that is diametrically opposed to what most people have been taught. Let me ask you, when you die what will come to be of your soul and body? Cheers IBJ |

'The Bible Code'; just joking.. though, 'chalk-up' another, intra-believing-Christian, disconnect/dispute! |

Reply | 2 Nov 2007, 13:45:46   Re: Doctrines of 7th Day Adventism - Submitted per HallofMirrors request I certainly do understand time issues so I will keep this brief. Can you identify even one specific verse from God's Word which condons Sunday worship or 1st day worship? Here are some very brief facts. A. Sun - Sat are pagan definitions for the days of the week. While it is true that several days were dropped from the calendar in the 1800's the placement of 1 - 7 as outlined by God at the very beginning of time never has changed. Supporting evidance for the biblical claim above? Genesis 2 2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. B. The 10 Commandments given by God to Moses of which Jesus Himself followed as did the Apostles after Him contain one commandment that says remember. To keep this short I will only focus on that commandment though the supporting evidance for what I just said is truly plentiful. Exodus 20: 8 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. Let me ask you... how long is a generation? How many of those do you think has passed since when these words were spoken? If it doesn't equal 1000 generations then wouldn't this and all 10 commandments still be binding today? C. Jesus even honored the 7th Day Sabbath in His death though normally crucifixions happened near the beginning of the week so that the Jews would not be guilty of having someone work during the Sabbath. Supporting documentation? Burial... John 19:31 Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. Resurrection... Matthew 28:1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. D. We would all agree that we have an adversary named Lucier also referred to as a dragon in Revelation. Who is it that Lucifer wars against? Revelation 12:17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspringïFFD014those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus. According to the above verse there are two characteristics of the people He is coming against. 1. "Hold to the testimony of Jesus" That easy enough. They are following the ways of Jesus. 2. "Obey God's commandments" Now this one seems to be a bit more difficult for most people. What are God's Commandments if they are not the 10 commandments? What is the 4th commandment which I outlined near the beginning of this post? SUMMARY: From where I sit that lends a tremendous amount of support to keeping the 7th Day Sabbath. Does the support for keeping the 1st Day instead measure up? Here's a link that you should check out. ===> http://members.aol.com/KHoeck2/notes.html As far as what happens after death? Here are some Bible quotes... http://www.biblegateway.com/quicksearch/?quicksearch=sleep death We can talk more about this later, but what are these verses saying about the correlation between sleep and death?
