Of meat and things
Good question Gamma, though I'm not sure where the question went. And I suppose I fit the bill of just such a person that you were looking for. I further suppose that Jebus will contradict this post, though in a rare and unfamiliar twist you might actually like my answer given your position on pork.

For all those that missed the temporary question posted earlier today, if in vision all meat was turned clean why is it that pork is still considered an unclean meat by the Adventist errrr Jewish community.

The verses in question are in Acts Chapter 10... here's the beef errr I mean link... http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=51&chapter=10&version=31

In specific we would be speaking of verses like...

12It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. 13Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."

And...

15The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."

First, was there ever a point in Scripture where God identified the pig as anything other than a scavenger? Did God ever deam the pig clean? If not verse 15 wouldn't apply in this case as a pig remains as an unclean animal to this day?

But more importantly I would encourage people to read this and every Scripture in context with what is taking place. Right before this vision takes place what is happening in Scripture? I'll share the subhead as a hint...

"Cornelius Calls for Peter"

And you can trust he didn't use a cell phone.

Actually, this is exactly what he did...

1At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. 2He and all his family were devout and God-fearing

Oh cool, one Christian calling upon another. How neat is that? But wait... there's more. Peter was a Jew. Don't tell anyone but Cornelius wasn't!!!!! Do you know what Jews thought of those who were not Jews? Yeah, you guessed it, they were unclean. However, if God's redeeming salvation message can transform a Jew into a new creation just think what it can do for us Gentiles! The bloos of Jesus can wash all our sins away and make as white as snow... or more precisely... CLEAN.

Okay,so what happens right after this vision is completed?

19While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Simon, three[a] men are looking for you. 20So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them."

Immediately after this vision we see the "unclean" men that were sent to find Peter arrive and take him to Cornelius.

34Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism 35but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right.

44While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. 46For they heard them speaking in tongues[b] and praising God.

Peter learns that the salvation message is not just for the Jews but for the Gentiles too. Till then, Gentiles were considered "unclean".

Therefore, according to Scripture, this vision that Peter had had nothing to do with meat and everything to do with coming to understand that no man was unclean be they Jew or Gentile.

Hope that helps answer your question Gamma.

Cheers
