Reply | 2 Oct 2007, 07:50:12   CHEATER Hi, Im a new member here but played as a free trail period for a while first. There is a person that keeps using the free trials to play here for free. That isnt my complaint...he also uses the caissa program to cheat people. He will play 2 games at once...one against you and one aginst the caissa program. He uses caissa's moves against you...cheating. Is there any way to stop this from happening or do the admins even care about customer service?

Since the new Caissa allows multiple games to played at the same time, it is possible to have a game against a real opponent in one window and a game against Caissa in the other window. Then you could just use the Caissa game to determine your moves in the other game. The simple solution is to restrict games against Caissa when playing against a live opponent. Since we are currently working on live game updates, this is a timely report. Thanks for this great report Pawnreader and welcome to Caissa's Web. |

The only way to protect yourself from this is to watch the games and see 2 using the same moves. And since he uses 2 accounts its not hard to log into both at the same time.

For instance, if a person has a Chess program loaded locally, they could use that to test their moves against the computer first. There would be no way to protect against that. The wonderful about chess is that each game, win or lose, presents opportunities for learning. Each game you lose, whether to a computer or to a human opponent, teaches you strategies and moves to help you play better next time. (So long as you take the time to pay attention.) It may seems like a small consolation, but the alternative is to just be bitter about it. Also, each time someone wins by cheating, their rating goes up. Eventually their rating will go high enough so that they are playing opponents who can beat their computer program of choice. When that happens, hopefully the cheater will give up and go home. |

Anyone can download free software to win. Best thing is maybe keep a publc black-list of accounts/trial or otherwise. I dunno. I would just use here as training for real games. In real games it's great because players fold so fast it's funny. It's just a completely different game online, much less 'sport' to it. Dale |

So there is no way to completely prevent it, though some type of community rating system to identify computer players may be an option. In the mean time, we will prevent playing Caissa during a live game and also possibly try to prevent two accounts from being logged in at the same time from the same computer (IP address).

Reply | 6 Oct 2007, 18:38:38 In reply to AdminBrian CHEATER Hi all. I have suggested this so many times before, (without any concrete response from the Admins) that this is definitly the last time; I promise. Simply create a feature so that any member can add any other user---member or trial---to a "blocked list". The blocked user could never start a game with the user who blocks them; whether in the live waiting list, quick pair, corr, etc. This eliminates all worrys about cheaters forever, and no one needs to be "flaged" as a cheater by others. Each person will decide for themselves and their decision is final and no accusations need be made or proved in forums such as this one!! Then every one can happily play only with those that they feel are competing fairly. Case closed; forever!!!!!!! |
