The number of people starting a corr game (or going on the waiting list) and never turning up to play has taken my rating up to 1400.
 
Not sure if having a rating up here a good thing or a bad thing. But the old site wasn't full of people abandoning games before they've even started, so why is this one?

..I attribute it to people wanting immediate gratification,
and Not knowing themselves well enough to realize that
they don't have the patience to stick with a corr. game.
 
..As one who Used to be guilty of this same undesired chess
habit {on the Web, at: Itsyourturn.com, and before that, via
'snail-mail'}.. I know.
 
..Also, being "double-minded" plays a role; which incidentally,
the Bible 'weighs-in' against, ie.- "a double-minded man, is
unstable in All his{her} ways."
..Would that that phenomena only affect fringe areas, like corr-
espondence chess, and not the things that Really matter in life,
as in the very longstanding, circa 50% American divorce rate!

For that matter, the default provisional rating for new users seems to be 1350. It was 1200 on the old site. Why was this changed?
