Results of New Interface Poll
greetings..... the results ?? I've concluded that few care one way or

the other since there were a sum total of one response other than mine,

and that response was the result of a chat session.

I guess we get the chess service we deserve.

The new interface sucks bigtime! Slow as anything...but hey, why does that matter, as there is never anyone to play anyway!

Re: Results of New Interface Poll
I think my main reason for liking it is that it's considerably faster, what with a Java interface that actually works (and similar improvements in the corr area).

But admittedly it's a mixed blessing. I suppose the main problems are:
- it still isn't as fully featured as the old one
- it seems to have split the community between the two sites

I think what the powers that be need to do is:
- get working at getting the features of the old site implemented in the new
- send a message out to all members encouraging them to use the new site, as well as asking for constructive criticism of it

Of course we still need to keep the old site running, for the benefit of people with special needs or non-mainstream equipment who can't use the high technology of the new site.

Re: Results of New Interface Poll
greetings...... thanks for the note - some good thoughts.

As a quasi-software professional I just can not get over how this was handled!

But..... I think we , as a community need to work with it.

Re: Results of New Interface Poll
Don't get your hopes up. I believe it will take at least 2-3 years, and perhaps never, for the new site to be fixed and working as it should be. Just my opinion, but based on a decade of observation on how things work here. I'm not happy about it, just convinced.

Re: Results of New Interface Poll
greetings..... thanks for taking the poll. Of course 2-3 of burn in

for the project is terrible. It should have been fine tuned off-line.

My big gripe is raising the rates since it looks like one needs to

do both interfaces to have the functionality of the old one.

Re: Results of New Interface Poll
I like it too. As soon as I finish playing all my corresp games at the old site, I'll move over here full time. I think everyone will migrate to the new site eventually. I like to chat (about nothing) so this is great!

Re: Results of New Interface Poll
This new interface sucks bag. You can't even play a goddamned human. I would not pay for this site in this life nor the one to come. How does admin expect to make money off this crap? The financiers will be dissapointed, if there are any. It's probably just a guy in a garage who works for mediawest.

Re: Results of New Interface Poll
..This post would more appropriately come under something like:
"Where do Dissatisfied Caissa Members Go From Here!".. which
brings to mind a largely American corporate-startup truism; which
is: "The dissatifaction with the status-quo, has spawned Many
a large, and not so large businesses, in almost every sector!"
{see, Steve Jobs 2005 commencement speech which appears
earlier on this Misc. 'BB', for some inspiration!}.

..What this movement needs {forgetting my recent 14-cent per day,
recent 'Bull' of a post}..since there's No denying that the "New
Caissa" serves as a considerable barrier to increasing the pool
of players.. on the better liked "classic Caissa"; is a "corporate-
angel," multi {chess-playing} billionaire Paul Allen, comes to
mind!.. and a minimum of let's say three {preferably four} people
with business knowledge in getting financial-backing and Web-
related startup knowledge in getting another chess Web site estab-
lished; the difference being, a small collective effort of people who
will..for once, "Get-Things-Done-Right!"

..My nominees, without having met any of these people in person,
are: Wayne McNalley, Dale Robichard{sp?} aka., "Dualspace"; who
apparently works as a financial-analyst for a major Toronto Canada
bank; and also apparently has a Caissa's Web mention on his "MIP"
{Caissa} page, Re. his "Facebook.com" personal Web page{s}, the
former Caissa member "fierce," aka., Joe ? {a computer IT person,
in real life, and works for {the last time I 'heard'} a Boulder, CO law-
firm}.."Dualspace"/Dale Robichard, would probably know how to
get in touch with him, about a new chess Web site, that would, 'Do
Things Right'!

..And if Nothing comes from all of this name-dropping, etc., at
least no one can say that I didn't try{!} Short of myself not being
independently wealthy, Who IS?! ..well of course there's the
previously mentioned, unknown/willing or unwilling, 'corporate-
{mega-billionaire} angel', Paul Allen. {fini}

Re: Results of New Interface Poll
All I can say is...

too bad the admin aren't reading the MISC BB postings more. And if they are then they better wake-up before we are all gone... and that would be myself included.

Cheers

Re: Results of New Interface Poll
greetings...... this posting is starting to roll and perhaps can

influence our plight!

Again........ I think as a community we need to work with the

New Interface - my take right now would be to make it an option and

place where members can help debug it.

Re: Results of New Interface Poll
Let me get this straight...

Your recommended that I spend a greater amount of my own hard earned cash so that they "might" get their act together?

They had their act together once upon a time.

I second the notion to not break what isn't broken.

Cheers

I've been hear since 1999, and I'd have to say that if something doesn't change drastically immediately I quite agree with you.
