Other than throwing the PC out the window, what should I try? I downloaded Java again so it should be loaded and ready. It just quit and I can't play live games anymore.

Only thing I can figure is it may be a firewall issue. Try also resetting your brower to default settings. if you have Internet Explorer go to TOOLS then INTERNET OPTIONS then click your ADVANCED TAB and at the bottom is an option top RESET your default browser settings. Perhaps this might help?

I had upgraded to IE 9 and couldn't play live games so I switched to Mozilla and I'm back in action.

Over the past two days now I have been unable to load the Java interface.
I'm using a Mac and have Safari 5.0.3 with all new updates loaded. I also just installed Google Chrome
and have had the same results.
Anyone else have luck with a different Mac browser?
I've never had this issue with hundreds of previous games.

Same problem for me. I've downloaded a new Java but that didn't change matters. At the moment, I can't play at all - Admin, please respond.

I doubt you will get ANY response from Admin. They have never responded to any of my emails. First, disable your firewall and try to load in the java applet and see if this might be the problem. Alot of issues when on the web apply to your firewall blocking anything incoming. If this doesnt fix the problem we can next move to your browser settings and see if there is something we can do there.

I investigated further and now see the following pop up window when the initial applet is loading:

I see this while running safari...not sure why "netscape" comes into play
If anyone has an idea, let me know.
I completely reinstalled my OSX operating system to no avail.
I might have to find another chess website.....I'm having withdrawal symptoms.

Once again I see "Applet Loading" wait for several minutes but can never start

It seems alot of folks are having issues here with the java-script its too bad there is no Admin on this site anymore to help. It may be an issue with this site itself. I am running IE on Windows 7 and havent had too many problems here although there are bugs I encounter occasionally. As far as I have seen there are issues with this site when running Firefox and Safari. On that exception error you keep seeing referring to Netscape...It seems that your PC is still using Netscape as its default browser program. Did you try your installed Netscape browser with Caissa? I would suggest this. If Caissa does not work with your Safari or installed Netscape. Go to the Netscape website and download the newest free browser version and just use Netscape when entering this site and use Safari for your other endeavors. I'm pretty sure it will work with Netscape as this site was orgnally designed for both IE and Netscape.

Miraculously, everything started working again today. Apparently, the computer gods have smiled upon me. No further changes were necessary. Thanks to all who have offered advice.

This happened to me too but with correspondence. I think Admin reads the boards they just don't respond on them ...well, that's my theory anyways :)

I am not sure this is the place to discuss this but some pieces have begun to disappear on my correspondence games. As I write this a rook does not show up on a game I may forfeit because I am running out of time.I know where they are but eventually I'll have to stop playing. It happens with IE and Opera. Could this be a java problem.
