Badly needed improvements
I was just wondering how come a brand new site was made during my absence and it does not include any MIP's for members to get to know eachother and let them post their games and record? Also, sorely missing is a chatroom cheesboard. How can members discuss and analyze their games without a chessboard to work with? I chose to become a member and play chess here on Caissa because of the social aspects this site used to provide. Without these, the things that I enjoyed most about this site are not available to me. One of the most important reasons why one would purchase a membership here would be to access the chatrooms and be able to discuss, learn, and analyze games played. In the past we would have quite a few people in chatrooms discussing games played, discussing openings, chess problems, member organized events and so forth. I would think it would be worth the investment to incorporate these simple things. Indeed quite a few guest players would upgrade their membership to become part of these discussions and it would prove to be an excellent way to better their game rather than only playing them. I would like to get this site lively again so please post replys here or contact Admin via email if you agree that these things should be incorporated into the site. Thank you, Craig

Re: Badly needed improvements
You are 100% correct.Things which were available on the old site are no longer here and it detracts from this site.It was a lot of fun to watch a critical Nova game for instance and kibbitz about it in a chat room with other members.Simple things like the scorebook are worse here.On the old site you could find a game you played against an opponent. Now you have no search mechanism nor can you delete games that are of no value to you.The MIP's are as you mentioned another old site asset which is missing here.

I am glad to see I am not the only one to be concerned about all the missing things on this site.

A message from Grim

Doing a "reply-all" here to hopefully spark some conversation.

1. Official tournaments, hosted by Caissa and categorized
by class, with some sort of reward at the end. Perhaps a
year's Premium membership, chess pieces, or something like that.

1.a Perhaps as a sub-set, challenge tournaments against
teams from other sites? Live or Corr.

2. Ability to access my corr games via the iPhone app. I
play live, occasionally, but would like the option of
getting to my corr games.

3. Some additional filtering options in the Scorebook for
researching games.

4. Ability to play live games without the Java interface.
I think the old site had this ... it's an issue from my work
machine. :)

I love 1a. I think you may be on to something. I used to play in chess clubs in Colorado and we would travel to other nearby clubs and play. I think it would work on line also. TEAM CAISSA -challenges TEAM RED HOT PAWN! Or What ever. Great advertizeing for both sites.

Re: Badly needed improvements
So let's sum up:

-a chessboard in the chatroom
-MIP
-a better library with the option to see any member's games , even the challenges
-Paypal as a payment option
-G2, G5 or G10 tournaments every day for members
-the possibility to check IP addresses and to automatically limit connection options to well known offenders on this site
-allow a better classification of the games played on this site.If you want for example to look for a Kings Indian on the live games results, this game should have a ECO code like E60-E99
-corres games on Caissa Iphone application
-maybe a special price for players who want to use both Caissa sites. It costs $30 to be a member here and $50 on the old site where hardly anyone plays those days.
-an online shop where you can buy books, software

If anyone has anything else to add...

Re: Badly needed improvements
Two reasons; For the freakin' status quo; As I see it. #1. We're the 'serfs' {or pawns}; And 'We$tern-Media' {the parent Co.}, are the estate barons. #2. From, Western-Media's, pov, I would think; Inve$ting, real money, in making this site better; 'Bottom-Line'; Will likely, Not translate, into recruiting a sufficient number, of new members, to pay for the improvements. Especially, Not, with the 'US' economy, unemployment, and humongous nat'l deficit; Plus, high borrowing-co$ts; The way they are!

- As for, inve$ting, for long-term benefits? .. There IS, No such thing, as having, 'long-term-
visions' for the future; Among most, 'US' corporation heads, for the near-term future!; Unless, you're talking about, the number of months & days left, 'til {Prez} 'Obama's, likely, one-term; Not-so-great, experiment; Finally ends!! - ..{I don't think that, 'AdminBrian' could've said it any better!; That is... If 'leveling' with his 'base,' {meaning us}, were part of his mindset}. -

Its a shame when you go to your member profile you only get 2 choices; 1. To choose your country and 2. To upload a tiny-ass avatar that you need a microscope to see. I dont see the '07 upgrade being progress.

Re: Badly needed improvements
I only used to Guest on the old site so it's a bit hard for me to judge...but the Corr facility on this site seem to be better than some of the others I've tried......the BBs tend to suffer from monopolisation by one individual which I suspect turns off quite a few from contributing.

I would wholeheartly support the re-introduction of the MIPs...they would really enhance this site

They already made a small improvement. If you are a guest, now when you log on , a small window pops up and tells you about all the advantages of being a member.

There's No denying that.. But..

Ask any 'WTC'/NYC, 9-1-1 'first-responder'; Who has yet to 'see-a-dime' in federal compensation; For, in many cases.. experiencing, life-shortening illnesses, as a result of what happened, over 9 years ago. {one of numerous, unrelated examples}.
