Reply | 4 May 2009, 17:31:32   chess960 abuse how dow the alias 'medsomedso' who has an 0-1 record in chess 960 get a 2599 rating? I've noticed a large number of 0-x players in chess 960 all up over 2000 ratings and most start games with me and then never play. luckily my games result in being aborted because they never move, but I'm guessing they're using that somehow to get inflated ratings. |

Their rating is still being established and not yet indicative of their actual skill level. You can go to the "Help & Info" tag above and then "Player Ratings" for exact details on the Provisional ratings.

The issue is that I like to add a lower rating bound when offering games to filter out exceptionally weak players and when people with no wins at all are rated that high I end up playing a lot of players that shouldn't be in that range.
