Reply | 16 Jan 2009, 07:47:14   Shouldn't We be Calling It, "Chess-959"?! .. I read on a chess 'blog,' the 'passing' mention, that the permutations for "Chess-960," include the conventional placement of all the pieces. .. I was just wondering; Given the 'random' choosing by your '960' server, of the 'start' position; Might one eventually find themselves, playing the same starting position, as in, 'conventional' chess{?}; Or has that possibility, been {'program'} removed? Ps., Since I didn't ask this, solely to practice my 'typed-in' question, locutional ability; An 'admin' response, would be appreciated!- |

Go to http://www.caissa.com/encyclopedia/chess960.php and you'll see the following "The Starting Position Identifier, or SPID, is a number between 0 and 959 and represents every possible starting board position. Note that SPID 518 is coincidentally the same starting board position as traditional chess. A Chess960 game that starts with this board position would proceed as a traditional chess game."
