[RFE] Multiple pairings on the corr waiting list
At the moment, as I just found out, if I put myself down more than once on the corr waiting list, then once one game has started all my waiting list entries are removed.

On the old site, there was an option of a continuing entry on the corr waiting list. This wasn't ideal, as there's no obvious way of limiting the number of games you end up with.

A fairly simple improvement would be an option for the number of games to pair through the waiting list. This could be set either:
(a) for an individual waiting list entry, in which case it would decrease when a game is paired from that entry, until the count reaches zero, when the entry disappears.
(b) across all my waiting list entries, in which case it would decrease when a game is paired from any entry on my waiting list, until it reaches zero.

A further idea is to have a member setting to keep my waiting list entries active as long as I have fewer than a specified number of corr games in progress. When the number I have on the go reaches this number, my waiting list entries would be still in the system, but not active (and therefore not visible to other users). When a game ends and drops my number of active games below the number I have set, my waiting list entries would be active once again.

Indeed, for idea (b) above, you could debate what should happen when the count reaches zero:
- remove all waiting list entries, and reset the count to 1 ready for the next time I want to go on the waiting list
- deactivate my waiting list entries, to be reactivated when I reset the count
- give the individual the choice between these two

What do people think of these ideas?

Stewart.

I like your sketch of how the waiting list would work. It would be important that each entry I put in the waiting list be clicked on by a different person. I would not want to put myself up for multiple games and have them all wind up being paired with the same opponent.

Your idea of automatically being placed on the waiting list when your number of active corr games falls below a specified level is a great idea. We will implement that in the upcoming corr game updates.

Adding more sophisticated waiting list options is also a good idea, though we may only have time to add the basic continuing entry option for now.

That brings me to something else I meant to say. There could be a user option to limit simultaneous games with the same opponent resulting from waiting list pairings. Thus you could go on both as black and as white to give whoever responds the choice, while at the same time letting them choose to play two games simultaneously as black and as white (which some like to do). But limiting the number with the same opponent to 2 would stop the same member from giving you lots of games.
