Chess960, Requires a Different Type of Positional Intuition, as "Black"!
On more than two occassions in 'Chess960', I have tried
playing a "Kings Indian" setup as "black," and got 'burned'
in the process; apparently because, leaving aside the fact
that the black "King-bishop" was already conveniently pre-
placed on the "h8-diagonal," the fact that I chose to play
in a Non-symetrical way {ie. Not copying "white's" opening
moves} does Not, in more than a few cases, lead to the same
type of positional-equality that one finds in regular chess!

In a recent game against the "IsraeliProgram" {who had "white"}
my 'deeper-ply-seeing' opponent started out with the anti-posit-
ional pawn move of 1.b4; and as the game played out, with myself
following the "King's Indian" mainline strategy of not surrender-
ing the center with e5xd4, due to the different {albeit symetrical}
starting positions of our pieces, it wasn't long before I had
to trade my rook for his centralized "d4" knight, to delay my
opponent's position from becoming even more dominating!

Since I would imagine that your average moderately chess-savvy
person would not have seen the inadvisibility of playing the
'seemingly logical' "King's Indian Defense" as a response to our
particular opening setup in advance; hindsight tells me, that short
of being able to calculate many moves in advance {before the game
even started!} I, or most anyone, would've faired better, had I
mimicked my opponent's first several opening moves!
