Have you looked for the answer in a search engine?

Re: Where do they find the opening names
I dont know too much about the names, but I understand a opening is named for the guy who played it the most, or played it with success, like nimzovich defence, alekhine defence, reti opening. Amazingly, even some offbeat openings have names of players attached to them like Barnes opening. If you play an opening often enough, you might even have your name attached to the opening, but it would be hard, because almost everything has a name. The strangest opening name came from my chess magazine, Chess Life, in USA, it was called the Stick It In Your Ear opening, 1E4 H6.
