Caissa old site sinking
25 Number of games played and completed
4 Most games played by a member: spearman
4 Most games won by a member: spearman
00:13 Average duration of a game
00:00 Duration of longest game
49 Average number of moves in a game
102 Most moves in a game
20% Percentage of games won by White
68% Percentage of games won by Black
12% Percentage of games drawn

These are the amazing statistics I could find on the old Caissa site.It refers to the number of live games played yesterday.25 games were played but no games were played between 2 humans. Caissa chess engine played Spearman and Milag and that's it.

The corres game section is even worst when no M tourney since 2007, while I was still playing on that site. I think they should close the site ...Anyway I have started a corres game against a "member" but still waiting for its first move. My handle is Yeman on this site.

I agree. The old site had alot more action. I play Gameknot alot more than here. I will not renew Caissa's Web again. I used to be doom then I switched to hoot.I left after they switched the system because of all the problems. That was a long time ago. I still see some of the orginals are still here. I am going to Gameknot. At least you get to play alot more.

Re: Caissa old site sinking
At the moment there are three reasons they can't just close the old site:

(a) People who can't use what's now the main Caissa site for some reason, maybe because they use old-fashioned equipment (there are probably still plenty of mobile phones and TV set-top boxes out there that aren't advanced enough to cope with the technology of the main site) or have a disability that means they find it unusable.

(b) Data still held on it, such as scorebooks. Though one way around this would be to replace the old site with a cut-down service that only allows people to download their scorebooks and whatever else.

(c) Features that still don't seem to have been incorporated into the new site. The library and chess shop come to mind. Member info pages on the old site probably aren't much use given that the site is practically dead now.

00:00 Duration of longest game

Something's obviously wrong here....

Re: Caissa old site sinking
Reason 4 - Media West just wants your money and will do nothing to improve the site, answer questions or recruit new members.

I have been a member of Caissa since 1992 and walk away with a heavy heart. I enjoyed my time here but will not pay for the shitty lack of service. In addition I have been slamming this site on their own public boards for over 8 months now and not a single admin has contacted me or bothered to remove ANY of the imflammatory posts.

Ask yourself - Is is worth paying $50 for nothing? Time to let this site go dark and let Media West know that if they want to make a profit they have to service the users and their needs.

Good Bye All.

Re: Caissa old site sinking
I like seeing the regulars I played years ago...but it does seem to be lacking in activity since then. Maybe the free competition of yahoo, fb and other sites are drawing membership. I enjoy being a part of a community that takes chess as "serious fun"...maybe something can be done to continue...I have been here off and on for 25 years, I think.
