Chess960 Live Tournament!
We are pleased to announce the very first Chess960 Live Tournament on Caissa's Web.

All subscribed members are welcome to participate.

For more info on Chess960, please review the Chess960 Encyclopedia article.

There is also a link to a Chess960 Video Tutorial on that page, so feel free to watch that also. If you have any questions about Chess960, post to this thread or to the Chess960 Analysis Bulletin Board.

Here are the Tournament details:

Date: Saturday, 18 October 2008.

Start Time: 1:00pm CDT US (2pm EDT, 11am PDT, 18:00 UTC)

We will meet in the chat room at the start time, with first round starting soon after.

Round 2 will start at 2:15pm CDT.
Round 3 will start at 3:30pm CDT.
Round 4 will start at 4:45pm CDT. (if needed)

For those who would like to stick around, we'll have a post mortem in the chat room after the last game completes.

So you can expect at most a total of 4.5 hours of activity. Of course you may complete certain rounds early so you may duck in and out in that case. Just make sure to show up at the time of the next round.

Time control: 30/15.

Game: Chess960, random SPID.

Format: 3-4 round Swiss.

Players:
ASMAR

We need a minimum of 6-8 players for a 3 round tournament. More than 8 we will do 4 rounds.

Re: Chess960 Live Tournament!
Did this happen? I was not available to play but am interested in future 960 tourneys even though it's not my favorite type. I have a hard enough time understanding traditional chess.

Re: Chess960 Live Tournament!
It did not go ahead. Not enough people turned up. I dragged myself out of bed at 4:50am...this week I'll sleep in till 4:59.
