Caissa's Web now available on Facebook!
For those Caissa members who also use the Facebook social networking website, we are pleased to announce that you can now access many of the Caissa features from within Facebook.

Currently, the Caissa Chess application on the Facebook site is in beta testing.

We invite all current Caissa members to install and access the Caissa chess application on Facebook. You can do that using this link and choosing "Add Caissa Chess":

http://apps.facebook.com/caissachess

If you already have a Facebook account:
Log in to your account on Facebook, enter the link above and you will be prompted to install the Caissa Chess application.

If you do not have a Facebook account:
Click the link above and you will be prompted to set up a Facebook account. Follow the instructions and when complete, the application will be installed.

Once the application is installed, you will be prompted to enter your Caissa handle and password. Enter these as you normally would when logging on to Caissa. You will only have to do this one time.

Note that your Facebook account information like email, name, password, etc. is not related to your Caissa account information. They can be completely different or you can make them the same for convenience.

Once installed and activated, you can access your Correspondence games from within Facebook. You can also start a Corr game using the waiting list or challenge functions. Live game play will be added in the near future.

Remember, the Caissa Chess application on the Facebook site is in beta testing mode. Some features may not be available, or may not be formatted properly. Feel free to contact me at adminbrian@caissa.com or post to this bulletin board with any problem reports.

Because the app is in beta testing it is currently limited only to Caissa members. You cannot currently invite Facebook friends who are not Caissa members to play a game or install the app. We will add this functionality as soon as some testing has been done.

Thanks for your help in launching this great new extension of Caissa's Web!

Re: Caissa's Web now available on Facebook!
This is WAY cool!

I was able to make a correspondence move from facebook, and it also took my facebook picture and updated Caissa with it.

However, it does freak out a little if you try to log into both at once!

Great, glad you like it. We think it is pretty cool too.

Please let us know of any bugs you find or any suggestions you have.

After a bit more testing we will turn it on for all Facebook users, and then you can invite your Facebook friends and generally spread the gospel of Caissa on Facebook!

Re: Caissa's Web now available on Facebook!

Brian,, if you choose not to address this, that is fine.
I have NO IDEA what facebook is even all about.

is it something that you think I may want to get into and make chess moves from, or what is it? I am having a hard time envisioning what would be the benefit to have Caisssa and facebook linked.

Re: Caissa's Web now available on Facebook!
Adm. Brian, is presumably busy, with more important matters; where the answers are Much less obvious, 'Snoop'; but keep in mind... that Both 'Google,' plus your own 'God-given' instincts; which apparently, you've decided Not to avail yourself of; Can be of help... provided you allow it{!?}

Here's a 'mini'-instructional for you; and any {ahem}, few others, likeminded.

Question: "God helps those who help themselves - is it in the Bible?"

Answer: "God helps those who help themselves" is probably the most often quoted phrase that is Not found in the Bible. This is actually a quote from Ben Franklin and it appeared in Poor Richard's Almanac in 1757. In fact the Bible teaches the opposite. God helps the helpless! Isaiah 25:4 declares, "For You have been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat...", and Romans 5:6.

Apart from salvation, there is perhaps a way that the concept "God helps those who help themselves" is correct. As an example, if you asked me to help you move a piece of furniture, but then just watched me as I moved the furniture for you, I was not actually helping you. I would be doing the work for you. Many Christians fall into the trap of inactivity. Many Christians ask God for help, but then expect God to do everything Himself. They excuse this by pointing to the fact that God will provide according to His will and in His timing. However, this is not a reason for inactivity. As a specific example, if you are in need of a job, ask the Lord to help you find a job - but then be active in actually looking for a job. While it is in His power to do so, it is highly unlikely that God will cause employers to come looking for you!

In the same way, 'Snoop'; it is unlikely that you'll get a precise answer to your question; since it is one of those things, that shouldn't be That Hard, for you to figure out on your own. {D-u-h!?}.. ..{but then again, I've been shown to be wrong before, on this 'BB'; twice, for the record}.

Re: Caissa's Web now available on Facebook!
Unless you already use Facebook on a daily basis, then there would be no reason for you to access Caissa from Facebook.

The benefit is that for those tens or hundreds of thousands of Facebook users who might be interested in chess, Caissa offers a great application to play chess with their friends.
