Reply | 28 Jun 2008, 12:20:48   A CHANGE THAT NEEDS TO BE MADE Sometimes when players know thet ha a lost position they disconnect insted of resigning...This is beacuse they know that some players will not wait 5 minutes to collect their points...Some of us have lives outside of chess...You should change the program so thatdisconnectors lose DOUBLE the points they would have otherwise lost and players should only have to wait 1 minute to collect these points... |

But suppose someone really loses his connection. Should he be penalize double for that? It has happened to me that I loose my connection while I'm far ahead and can't reconnect in time (I ussualy play very short games). |

The only way I see to provide for that is to have a "counter" for each person - you can lodge comlaints about diconnections. Not sure if this is what KARMA is currently used for? If his count is high when he disconnects then he is likley an habitual disconnector - and so should lose the points. But if his count is low he should not. Because it is in fact the habituals that are the real problem no? And if an honest person has a network connection that drops frequently....then que sera....

These are speed games with too much dependent on "flow" and you shouldn't have to wait five minutes or whatever to collect a win on a two-minute game. You disconnect or drop your connection, you lose... simple as that. -f |
