Caissa is pleased to announce the introduction of Video Tutorials as a new and ongoing feature of our website. Currently these tutorials offer easy-to-use and interactive instructions on how to use the features of the website. Future tutorials will includes lessons and tips on how to play chess.
 
You can view a list of tutorials by going to the "Help & Info" drop down menu on the Caissa main menu and then choose "Video Tutorials."

With the outstanding success of the new Caissa Correspondence Games area, we have put together this overview of the Corr Games area and all the great new features made available to Caissa members.
 
Notes on how to use the video tutorials:
 
- You must have the Adobe Flash Player installed on your computer. It is probably already installed--if not, it can be downloaded at the Adobe website (www.adobe.com).
 
- The videos work best with broadband connections (DSL, Cable). Dial-up connections may result in a slower viewing experience.
 
- All videos include AUDIO. If you do not hear audio when playing the videos, make sure the audio functionality on your computer (e.g. speakers, sound card) is working correctly.

the new video-option, would make considerably more sense, if..
for the fact that it wasn't coming Before three other sorely miss-
ing features {including, the 'BB' filter} that are non-existent on
the "New Caissa," yet, ARE {or were} to be found on the Much
Older, "classic caissa"!!?
 
..Far from being a 'naysayer/contrarian', if this could be compared
to shopping for a new car, it would be like a car-salesman bragging
about the car's fancy {and extraneous} Internet-connection{!?}..
while this hypothetical 6,000 lb. "new car," lacks "power-steering";
which.. incidentally, you {the 'customer'} only figured-out for yourself!

gamma, you mention 3 features you miss from the Caissa Classic site but you only list one, a BB filter. I think you are referring to the ability to filter the posts of a specific member. What are the other 2 features you are referring to?

"New Caissa" in the last 24-40 some hours; the other two features
missing from the "New Caissa," are: the 'light-green and cream-colored'
{I think} chessboard-square-{"configuration"} option {Fischer's, long-
time favorite!}, and the ability of {Caissa} members to play through
{move-by-move} all the games {under, "Results"} on the "New Caissa,"
onscreen!
 
..Incidentally, if the delay in incorporating the latter completed game fea-
ture, Re. the ability to 'play-out' any game onscreen {on, "Results"} is due
to any technical-problems Re. "Chess-960"; I would gladly do without that
{same} feature, as it relates to "Chess-960," if it will get the 'ball-rolling'
on the same feature-option, that already has been long-since available, on
your older site!
 
..Since Both of your presumably still-lacking-options {besides the Bul-
letin-board-filter, of certain few, unwanted posters} have yet to be
implemented on the "New Caissa"; and given-the-fact that None of these
aforementioned features involves, "rocket-science"{!}..I , and I'm sure
many other members, would appreciate periodic updates/explanations,
{if need be}.. on what seems to be the problem!?!? ..Cheers{!}

The ability to play through a game in the results area was implemented shortly after going live with the new site several months ago. At the time, I think we stopped what we were working on so we could specifically implement this feature based on member requests. In any case, just go to a game in the Results area and choose "View Game".
 
The green and cream colored board was implemented on 26 August 2007. Please refer to a post on the Administrator Announcements bulletin board entitled Correspondence Chess Updates 8/26/07. We will add this to the Live Games in an upcoming batch of Live Game updates.

I think the Video Tutorials on Caissa's Web section is very cool & should be a great help for new members.

Presumably there's going to be textual documentation as well? It's probably only a matter of time before a deaf person complains that the video tutorials are hard to follow, among other possibilities.

The video editing software we use allows for captions in the videos, which we will eventually add.
